I think he was a mod of the subreddit, so no affiliation with NASCAR itself. Anyone can create a subreddit on Reddit and name it whatever they want.

True, but you'd hope that someone moderating the Nascar subreddit would have a little knowledge of the situation. It was almost as if they pulled up an wikipedia article on African American stock car drivers.

Suggesting that she is making an effort to subvert the sport's development process, NASCAR's vice president for public affairs has said, “I am uncomfortable with Tia representing herself in the way that she has.”
