He sued two or three of the gossip papers and won in at least one of them. If I remember correctly, it was a undisclosed amount.

Condit responds to break in Levy case

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former California Cong. Gary Condit tells a Washington TV station he's glad the family of Chandra Levy is finally getting answers.
A person close to the investigation into Levy's 2001 murder says authorities have prepared an arrest warrant for a man convicted of similar attacks in the park where the former intern disappeared. The person tells The Associated Press that Ingmar Guandique's arrest is imminent and an official announcement is expected soon.
In a statement posted on WJLA-TV's Web site, Condit blames an "insatiable appetite for sensationalism" for slowing down the investigation.
An attorney for Condit says the new revelations clear the former congressman. Condit's political career crumbled amid negative publicity surrounding the case and allegations he had had an affair with the 24-year-old.
A second person aware of the investigation says the break in the case came in part from DNA evidence.
Baskin Robbins franchises revoked
Following his congressional career, Condit moved to Arizona.[15] In February 2005, he started two Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop franchises with his wife and children in Glendale. In March 2006, Baskin Robbins revoked the franchising agreement, claiming the Condits owed them $14,221.29. Among the corporation's complaints was that the Condits continued to use the Baskin Robbins name after the franchises were revoked.[15]

Problem is all that press after the fact never gets reported on the front page because it's not sensational enough.

He will always have that * behind his name. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's Canada that prohibits any news coverage other than the initial report until after a trial. That won't fly here as the press would be screaming bloody murder over the 1st amendment and our right know (& their ability to line their pockets). They don't care if it ruins a life as long as it sells.

It's true the press has ruined some lives but they have uncovered alot of things to that shouldn't be happening.I just make it thru life hopeing that they have uncovered more than they ruined
