So anyways, I got the best phone call of my life on sept 15….After not hearing from my daughter for 17 years she called. WOW that was a shocker…but a good shocker. I just couldn’t believe it after all these years. Her mother moved her around a lot so I could never track her down I gave up after 2 years. Here is what makes me mad. Her mother was in an abusive relationship and my daughter was removed from her care and became a foster child. I can’t believe no one let me know. I am easy to find in the Madison phone book or a quick internet search. Shes 22, married and 2 wonderful kids ages 19 mos and 4 mos.
I am a little worried that she is going down the same road her mother and I did. She is very happy with life right now, but I worry for her down the road. All I can do is hope that things will work out.
I went down to Ft Worth as soon as I could which was the 17th of Nov. Talk about butterflies in your stomach………I think I had alligators!!!! I pull up to her house and she’s on the phone outside and she throws the phone down and yells out DADDY… Is that you……..Talk about emotional…. All in all everything was great and has been fine since. Now I have more people to presents for!!!!!

Last time I saw my daughter 15 years ago when she was about 6...what a cutie

It's good to see some genuine great news for one of our members Bucky :) As for her journey ahead in life, all you can do is be supportive like all parents are and hope for the best. They look like keepers to me :)

Bucky, I am happy for you.

What a wonderful thing to happen and at such a good time of the year.

Best wishes to you and your new extended family!

Peace!

congrats. Family reunions are always nice. Being the rest of my family are all in california, our family hasn't seen them in a long time. My grandpa came out last summer or 2 summers ago, and brought my dad's sister as a surprise. But i havent seen my cousins on either side in over 4 years and my parents havent seen most of their family in at least 5 or 6 years (other than my mom's side 4 years ago)

She is still a cutie with cutie kids.
It is wonderful to read something good. I have to admit, it brought a tear or two to my eyes. Best Christmas present ever. :)

Thanks guys, I give her lots of support. We talk twice a week. This came today...I think the little one was scared of santa:p I almost forgot...Under no situation, Tell a 22 year old to get what ever she wants from the "Buckle" at the mall...you will leave broke, the the smile on her face was priceless tho.

I'm so glad for you. This will be one of the best Christmas' that you'll ever remember. Very nice addition to the family. :)

What wonderful news!!! I am so happy for you! Please let me know when you come back for a visit. Maybe we can go have a beer or something!

Bucky,

I'm so happy for you!! What a fantastic reunion and I'm along with everyone else who thinks it's a fantastic gift, esp. at this time of year.

Love her, support her and just know, whether you've been there all of their lives or not, they still do what THEY think is best, no matter how much our life experiences could help.

What a beautiful family and the best gift ever!! Enjoy!!

Awesome story Bucky :beerbang: Happy for you :)

Sometimes wishes do come true

wow! what great news.so glad to hear it.now i'd call that the best christmas gift ever.

Bucky, great to hear that you have been reunited with your daughter, her husband and your grandchildren.
I too have been down the same road as you. I only saw 2 of my kids for the first time in 10 years last Christmas. In my experience us fathers dont have many rights and the authorities tried their best to cripple me financially without ever having a mandate for me to be included in their lives.....I too gave up.
Its unbelievable that they would foster your daughter out without getting in contact with you, but after going through the same I can believe it.

My advice is just forget about the past and cherish this new opportunity.

God Bless and have a wonderful Christmas
