Reutimann Will Drive No. 73 Entry in Eight Sprint Cup Events

Statesville, N.C. (May 21, 2012) - BK Racing announced today its plans to run a third car for David Reutimann in eight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) events, including this week’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Reutimann will pilot the No. 73 Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota in each NSCS race that he doesn’t drive for Tommy Baldwin Racing. Landon Cassill will remain in the No. 83 car and Travis Kvapil will remain in the No. 93 car for the rest of the season.
Reutimann has run two events with BK Racing this season driving the No. 93 car, the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway and the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
“Everyone at BK Racing is excited to solidify a third car on our team for David Reutimann,” said Scott Gunderson, president of BK Racing. “I know that he will strengthen our organization with the talent and experience that he brings to the table. Reutimann has been a big part of BK Racing this year and we look forward to working with him for the rest of the season. I want to thank Burger King and Dr Pepper for helping make this happen.”
BK Racing’s No. 73 team has entered one event this season, the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Kvapil was behind the wheel. Because the team runs a limited schedule, it was outside the top-35 in the owner point standings and had to qualify into the race on time. Kvapil made the show, qualifying 33rd and finishing 32nd, following a fuel pressure issue. Four cars failed to make the race.

Reutimann is a step up from Kvapil, who will probably be gone if they sign Reuti fulltime next year. I'm rooting for David.

The 83 car was really fast during the first 20 laps of the shootout. Hopefully they can build on that.

Guess not fast enough. The go-or-go homers who failed to qualify for the race (4): #19-Bliss, #73-Reutimann, #49-Yeley, #23-Riggs

He failed to qualify, based on him putting Danica through with owner points, how freaked up is that.

I've got to wonder if BK racing wouldn't be better off to commit those resources to the couple of race cars they have now as quite frankly they could use it.

Cassill could have an impact with some better equipment.

Woulda , coulda , shoulda , this had nothing to do with Danica , it had more to do with not having a MWR ride.

Which was not his fault. David is a great racer and has two wins to prove it. I thought it was funny that he out performed Truex at MWR, but got the boot. Now Truex is flying high. Go figure.

Everything has to do with Danica. Even when she wasn't at Martinsville that was still her fault don't you know?? lol

And this is a BK ride ,not a TBR ride so it has even less to do with Danica . Go figure . :(

No it's not Danica's fault, but Reuti kept that TBR car in the top 35 and they benefited Danica, has she had to use those points to get in the Coke 600 field, which is just the name of the game. Kurt also had to use owner points to get in, which is even stranger.

True, they could even get Vickers, in the races he doesn't drive the 55. It would make more sense.

After the stunt he pulled at Martinsville I'm glad he missed the race.

For me its a tossup, did he panic and listen to the idiots on the radio, did he panic and try to make it around martinsville on his own, was he just passively tooling around the track, hell if I know.

I am just bitter about how it all played out. The part that makes me blame David is that he chose to roll past the pit opening twice. But stuff happens and David seems to be a nice guy. They just didn't give him a fast enough car this weekend.

Not a toss up for me He was in the seat with the steering wheel and pedals at his control. Guy on the radio was irrelevant at that point. I'm tickled he's gonna have to sit through the telecast like us. Maybe his old buddy Mikey will give him a shout out.
