On Tuesday, June 1 at 10:00am/et, Legendary NASCAR driver Richard Petty, and seven-year-old Haleigh Epperson of Browns Summit will cut the ribbon for the two cabins built through donations from North and South Carolina credit unions. Thousands of credit union members and employees across the Carolinas helped raise $500,000 to build the cabins. The three-year fundraising project kicked off late in 2002, and is very close to reaching the original goal - more than a year ahead of schedule! "The credit union folks really took this project on," said Petty, "and we have been amazed at their commitment to Victory Junction Gang Camp. It'll be a pleasure to be there and say 'thanks' personally," Petty added. Epperson will join Petty in cutting the ribbon on the cabins. Victory Junction designated her "Camper Number One," and she looking forward to attending the camp in its inaugural season. Haleigh (pronounced Hay-lee) is a cancer survivor.
Victory Junction Gang Camp enriches the lives of children with serious or life threatening illnesses by providing camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. The $24-million camp, set to a NASCAR theme, includes activities such as arts and crafts, horseback riding, a pool/water park and a theatre, among others. The camp is supported through donations from the public and is free-of-charge to the campers. Victory Junction opens June 20 and is NOW accepting applications.

Folks, if you can donate, please do.. This is such an awesome deal! :bounce:
