Entry list will continue to get smaller...wait until GM anounces they are pulling out of Nascar....that will be the kicker. Can't help but think that announcement is just around the corner:eek:

I hope you are wrong, but I am afraid that you are on to something. If GM pulls out, Chrysler will also have to pull out, which will leave Ford and Toyota. It will also open the door for other foreign manufactureres to get into Nascar. Honda may be the first. With dwindling attendance and T.V. ratings, this could be the end for Nascar as we now know it. It could be a totally different animal next Febuary.

44 entrants are what is to be expected from here on out. You may get a few more at Charlotte, but as the year wears on, and sponsorships get tougher and tougher to find, Nascar will have to start filling in teams to get a full field. This was a lot simpler before the COT days. It is very complicated for a Nationwide Series team to fill in becasuse they would have to purchase a COT car. That means Nascar would have to front them the money. Kind of reminds you what our government is doing today. That is eerie.

I doubt GM goes anywhere, honestly. And I could still see Pontiac being sold and being urged to get back into NASCAR.

How do you figure that??? GM just announced Pontiac will be dropped from their product line....as in discontinued.

Phased out by the end of 2010. That timeframe gives them the double benefit of finding a potential buyer while still being able to shut down if necessary.

Doubt it will happen there are only 2 cars in that line that actually sell, the G-6 and the Vibe, pretty much a very risky proposal to buy just the Pontiac badge. Better scenario would be to buy GM, if and when it files bankruptcy, then you could pick and choose at a discount what to keep or discontinue.

There be a lot of G5s on the road here. G8, Solstice and GTO are fairly popular as well.

I think Pontiac is history. They already did away with Oldsmobile, and that did not help. Chrysler is now talking about doing away with, you got it, Chrysler, leaving them with Dodge and Jeep. GM can not give it's Hummer division away. Saturn is almost sure to belly up this year. The COT cars are just like IROC cars anyways, so I guess it really does not matter. IRL is basically one car, one engine, so Nascar can head in tht direction also.

They are already there.
