Saw where RPM2Nite reports that Rick is still not well. Rick says he feels about 50%. Doctors are now suspecting long term carbon monoxide poisoning. No idea when he might be able to race again, though the implication is Rick hopes to return.

Reportedly Tony Stewart was feeling the impact of carbon monoxide in his car following Sunday's race and there have been a few other instances this season of the same thing. Would seem to be another side effect of more efficient aerodynamics.

I know some drivers use helmets which are plumbed to bring fresh air (relatively fresh anyway) directly to the driver. This system or something similar should maybe be required equipment.

It's tough on a track like Martinsville for the driver to get clean air. I'm not surprised if the levels of carbon monoxide were high for all the drivers. Something needs to be done, especially on these short tracks, to get drivers fresh air.

It sounds like Rick Mast is pretty bad right now, hopefully he can pull through whatever he's suffering of. I'm pretty sure his racing career is just about done, but his health comes first.

The effects of CO poisoning can linger for a very long time. Rest, and high consentration oxygen therapy can be helpful. Let's hope the Rick makes a full recovery.

Good thing he caught when he did, I guess, but it seems sort of strange that they still don't know what it is.

I agree, CO should be easy to detect if it is that. Let's hope it is nothing more.

Well then his doctors probably made the right call. Hope Mast feels well soon.
