Harold Holly, crew chief for NASCAR Grand National rookie Scott Riggs, has resigned his position at ppc Racing effectively immediately to pursue opportunities in the Winston Cup series.
Sources confirmed Wednesday Holly is likely to end up at Richard Childress Racing, where he will rejoin driver Jeff Green, with whom Holly won the 2000 Grand National championship.

Where Green's current crew chief, Todd Berrier, will end up is unclear, but he could remain at RCR in another position, sources said.

"We do not have a replacement for Harold yet," said ppc Racing co-owner Greg Pollex. "The No.10 team has 15 wins under Harold's guidance and will continue to win races.

"(Co-owner) Keith (Barnwell) is in the process of reviewing our options and talking with some very strong candidates. We want to make sure we choose the right person for the team."

Pollex and Barnwell support Holly's decision to pursue Winston Cup opportunities.

"I wish Harold the best," said Pollex. "I have a tremendous personal relationship with Harold. I have always encouraged my guys to ursue advancement in

While I am glad to see Harold get his chance in the Winson Cup series and wish him the best, I hope a real good replacement can be found for Scott and the team.

Scott seems to be a talent destined for a decent racing future. If qualifying is any indication, the loss of Holly is being felt already.

It will be nice to see Green get back on track if Harold definitely goes to the #30. I think Scott is going to have a bright future, and at some point along the line will find the chance to move up into Cup. Hopefully, they can find a good crew chief and show other Cup teams what he is capable of.
