Well, who is going to finally do it this year? Please consider the skill level combined with equipment quality.

I said Scott Pruett because his skill level is almost as good as Boris' but I think the Ganassi car is much better than the MB2 ride. JMHO

Pruett has the best team/car combo of the ringers, but Boris Said has the most talent and has shown he can do more with less of a car than any other ringer...

LOL, none of them.
I have to go with Jeff Gordon, or Robby Gordon. Both
are really good on roadies. Them "hired guns" don't really
care if they tear up a car or not. And they don't
care who they take out in the process either.

Has a hired gun ever won a NASCAR Cup road race? I can't think of any. :) I'm with Dragonlady. I say none.

But if I had to pick one most likely to win, I'd have to go with Scott Pruett. He has more experience racing the big Cup cars on both ovals and roads.....plus he's in a Ganassi car (which really pains me to admit :D ). Now on sentimental grounds, I would say Boris Said.......he's just a likable guy. :)

Boris finished better than Pruett last year in an MB2 car...Pruett was in a Ganassi car then, as well.

Boris. The army car is not that bad and I think this additional car will be up to par.

Depends on whether one counts Parnelli Jones as a hired gun. He won at Riverside in 1967.

Also, Dan Gurney won at Riverside in 1963, 1964, in his only start in 1965, in his only start in 1966, and his only start in 1968. He won 5 races out of 12 he ever entered, all the wins were on road courses. Gurney was also instrumental in some of the old factory backing issues between the manufacturers, but that's another story.

Mark Donohue won Riverside in 1973.

So I guess one could say it has happened, but only once with Donohue in the modern era.

Thanks EMP, I wonder if they FOX boys can find that info...seems like all they ever talk about at sonoma and watkins glen is how "a hired gun this..." and "a hired gun that..." (imagine that in a DW voice...then add a Larry Mac comment in there somewhere)

It doesn't really matter, just bring em on, I love the road courses. :D

I remember them Dan Gurney edition Mercury Cougars! I'd boil my aged elder in oil for one of those babies!

I don't think any of the hired guns will win it. But I belive Boris Said will place the highest of the bunch.

I voted for Boris. i wonder if he'll bring Natasha???? ;)
ROFLMBO at NW!

I null voted, cuz I believe that one of the Gordons will win, but Boris may be the highest specialist finisher.

since you mentioned Boris and Natasha, I have an older Robby Gordon diecast with Boris and Natasha on it (rocky and bullwinkle too) from the 2000 season. He didn't get to race it though.

I voted for Klaus since I am a big fan. He is a great frontman for the Scorpions as well! :partytime:

Where is P.J. Jones? I think will be a contender.

Im voting for Klaus Graf. How can you vote against a guy with a name like that? :D

I voted for Boris Said in having the best chance at a win among the specialist drivers, but expect to see #24 in victory lane again with win #67. :D

since PJ has been driving a few other races this season, I didn't put him down as a road course specialist...if I did that, I'd have had to include the two Gordons.
