Hi guys, being Aussie we love our road races, how do you guys like them? We have one here called Bathurst,[Mt Panorama],it is THE BIG ONE here in Australia. We get up at 7/8 am watch replays/practice/qualifying,crack a beer at 9am and watch until about 4/5pm....BIG DAY!
Have to admit since the Nascar addiction kicked in I love Oval tracks [how good is Bristol??]
Aussie Al:cheers:

I like them both, but for different reasons.

Ovals provide high-speed, door-to-door action. Road courses are more technical, requiring a certain finese, pit strategy, and fuel mileage.

But I think road courses do have a place on the Cup schedule. For one thing, they're a nice break from the sometimes never-ending 1.5 mile ovals. There should be more than two on the schedule if you ask me. I think some where in the area of 5-8 road courses a year, with one or two of those being in the Chase would be good.

Right now, there's only 2. This means that drivers who normally aren't good on road courses (Junior), can try to wing it through these races. If there's more on the schedule, these drivers will have to learn to be better on the road courses because they'll actually matter now.

There's some really great tracks in America that NASCAR is missing out on. Sebring, Laguna Seca, Road America, Road Atlanta, and Barber just to name a few.

Plus, this would allow for more Cup/Grand-Am duel weekends! :D

I'd like to see NASCAR add Portland and New Jersey to the top-three series. The road races are generally pretty exciting.

I for one would love to see Laguna Seca on the cup circuit. That would be awesome to see the cup cars trying to navigate the corkscrew!!

Road racing is great. I hate when people say that the road racing is boring, but then they will complain that on oval tracks, they do nothing but turn left. And when it comes to not "belonging" in Nascar... their roots are in moonshiners back in the day. Did those moonshiners go around in circles? Nah, they drove on the road. Road racing has always been a part of Nascar, and the courses make a driver work. I agree that there should be more dates at road courses, and at least one in the Chase.

I like the road courses and i think there should be atleast 4-5 of them on the cup schedule. I think Portland and Road America are both deserving of a nascar race perferably cup.

I never liked Road courses until a few years ago. Now with the over indulgence of 1.5 milers, I wished we would drop a few of the dull boring cup races like California and Michagan and add a couple more Cup visits to Road Venues (after Kentucky of course). NASCAR drivers seemed to develop into very good Road course drivers, evidence by the complimentry statements of people like Max Papis and Ron Fellows. These guys with really good equipment have all they can handle with the cupsters.

NASCAR should only be run on ovals. Road courses in NASCAR to me are boring. NASCAR on a road course is like putting an elevator in an outhouse, it just dont belong.

gotta say it takes more talent to turn right and left.... road racing is one of the few things i look forward to in na$car these days... truck races and road courses... even though peeps gripe about plate racing... to me that chess match is number 1 ... the mile and a half ovals.... just boredom... too bad ambrose choked on the last turn! :(

If you like

road racing there is plenty of it.. Why should our guys try to prove they are better at someone else's game? It is clear to me that even the ringers have a time winning against our drivers. Our guys don't have any business doing the 2 or 3 crooked track races a year. And in the rain? What we saw should never be repeated!
I'd far rather they ran another one or two mile and a half'rs than them crooked tracks.
Betsy:rolleyes:

At least I didn't fall asleep watching last night's madness.

NASCAR needs more road courses... but not F1 tracks like Montreal.

And all of you who want to see a race at Laguna Seca, take a look at yesterday's cluster****. Laguna Seca would be even worse... not to mention it's the most boring road course, next to Danville, any series races at.

Laguna Seca boring?! Put down the crack pipe, Andy.

besty... nascar drivers are the best all around drivers ... period, those who master road courses and ovals, short tracks, and plate racing... no other series can even come close... they should have to prove it... and they do! :beerbang:
