Does anyone know anything about when it starts or where to find updates? I went to the SCORE homepage and it was virtually worthless (but reading the driver's briefing/rule was hilarious. I'd like to keep up with how Robby is doing, he had the car to beat last year until the whole "wheel" incident (can anyone say Sonoma?)

Oh, and by the way, Good luck to Robby and the rest of the 31 Red Bull team.

UPDATES

Red Bull Trophy Truck at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas
PreRace Update: The Red Bull Trophy Truck will go off the line 7th in today's Baja 1000 after a late withdrawal from the No. 77 Trophy Truck of David Scaroni. The race is scheduled to begin exactly two hours after the departure of the last motorcycle and ATV - approximately 10 a.m. PST. Gordon's team will be sharing pit responsibilities with Coyne Motorsports which starts 4th with Marty Coyne behind the wheel of his Gordon-built 4-Wheel Parts Trophy Truck. Coyne Motorsports will make driver changes at race mile 344.98 and again at race mile 740. Gordon will drive the first 740 miles before Red Bull driver Steve Barlow takes the wheel to complete the run.

Contingency Update: The Red Bull Trophy Truck was one of the first vehicles through tech inspection on Wednesday morning. "We are as prepared as we have ever been, if not more," Gordon said. "I ran the truck for about 100 miles last week and it was flawless. It looks great and the RCR motor has some serious horsepower. I'm very excited about our chances."

I didn't have much of an interest in this until we saw Robby make an appearance at Phoenix. I still don't care for him as a Cup driver, but he carried himself really well even though he got quite a few boos when he came on stage (it was during the PIR After Dark festivities, he came on between bands on the concert stage).

He talked about the Baja 1000 and he sounded pretty pumped about it. He even took questions from the crowd and tried to sign as much stuff as he could. I gained a lot of respect for the guy for being so cool even though the crowd was tough on him. And in the end, the crowd sent him off with more cheers than boos.

So I'll be rooting for him on the Baja 1000, but not in cup!! ;)

anyone interested should go to the score homepage and read the rules and notes to drivers that are listed...pretty funny stuff "We cannot control the locals" type stuff.

1:03 p.m. PST Gordon just passed race mile 200 and is currently the 1st truck on the course with a 5 minute lead over the second place truck. Currently the first 4 trucks are Gordon, Arciero, Coyne, and Herbst (4WD).

12:18 p.m. PST Gordon cleared Matias Wash (approx. race mile 128) and everything is good.

11:04 a.m. PST Marty Coyne's Four Wheel Parts truck is reportedly first on the course right now. The truck was designed and built by Robby Gordon Off-Road and started in the fourth position

10:57 a.m. PST Gordon just cleared race mile 65 running 5th. Everything running smoothly

9:49 a.m. PST The 2004 Baja 1000 is now underway

3:09 p.m. PST Red Bull Chase Truck #1 reports Gordon came through Race Mile 327 four minutes in front of the next truck, Mark Miller. Trophy truck order through 327 was Gordon, Miller, Steinberger, and Ed Herbst.

2:42 p.m. PST The last satellite phone call from the Textron provided Bell helicopter could not be heard so we have no update. We do expect a call every hour so stay tuned

5:07 p.m. EST Congratulations to David Gilliland who qualified the Fruit of the Loom Busch car eighth in Miami while Gordon is competing in the Baja 1000

Robby Gordon Site

5:56 p.m. PST Coyne Motorsports Semi and Red Bull Chase Truck #1 have reported that Gordon has made his stop at mile 516.13. They are reporting no problems and they are very happy with the truck. Gordon is still showing as first truck on the course. While on the phone with the team the following trucks came through race course mile 516.13: Miller at 6:11 p.m.; Herbst at 6:15 p.m. and Riviera at 6:16 p.m. Gordon ahead by 15 minutes

Gooooooooooooooooooooo Robby!!!!!!!!!!!

Another SoCal gal is pullin for ya!!!!!

Any bets that Robby will stay in the Truck and have a sub practice and qualify the #31 car tomorrow? :p

Well, its only gonna be like 250 more miles once he gets to where he wanted to be...you know? Hell, he might as well, what's gonna happen? Childress might fire him? He might lose Cingular as a sponsor? The majority of the NASCAR nation will revile him? Wouldn't that just be terrible for Robby to have to endure? At least Childress made a motor for him that hasn't (fingers crossed) blown up when he's in a good spot to win.

Richard doesn't build the motors.

Motor support from RCR, no Richard himself doesn't build them, but Childress (as in Richard Childress Racing) is the engine provider. Kind of like how Petty Enterprises will be using Evernham Engines next year, but Ray isn't scrambling around the shop building them.

Do you think that'll improve the Petty organization by getting Evernham engines?

we'll see, I guess. I have never been alive to see Petty Enterp. be competitive, really. I'm sure it isn't just the engines holding them back.

8:09 a.m. EST It has just been reported that Robby has just landed at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo.

2:16 a.m. PST A brief call from Robby prior to take-off reported that the #31 Red Bull Truck was down at about mile 790. Further calls from Gordon chase vehicles have helped to determine that it is due to a broken ring and pinion. The crew is working hard at this time to get the race truck running again. They are confident that they will have it running in the next hour.

10:50 p.m. PST Red Bull Trophy truck has completed it's final pit stop at race mile 842.99. Barlow has now taken over controls and is still the first truck on the course. Unsure at this time as to the current lead over the next truck but Robby did indicate in his last phone call that at the time of the driver's change they were 18 minutes up on the next vehicle.

Well those times are sure confusing. at 10:50 it says they were at the 842.99 and at 2:26am it says at mile 790.??
