LAS VEGAS – NASCAR has put Sprint Cup driver/owner Robby Gordon on probation following an incident with Kevin Conway in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway garage area late Friday afternoon.

Neither Gordon nor Conway would talk about the incident, but Conway said he had filed a police report about the incident – giving the indication that it was physical – and said all comment would come from the police or NASCAR. Gordon said he couldn’t comment because of the legal issues that already had existed between the two.

Conway, who is driving in the Nationwide Series for Nemco Motorsports at Las Vegas, was not put on probation.

“Robby’s been put on probation – we’ll let everybody know for how long on Tuesday,” NASCAR Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton said. “This doesn’t give Conway a free pass, either.”

No NASCAR officials witnessed the incident, Pemberton said.

Conway drove for Gordon in seven races last year and they are involved in lawsuits with each other – Gordon has sued Conway sponsor Extenze in California while Conway has sued Gordon in North Carolina.

Gordon said Saturday that Conway is asking for $27,000 in money from winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie award from last year. Gordon said Saturday that he would pay Conway once he gets the $690,000 from Extenze.

Attaboy, Robby. Conway's a punk that's finding out that he ain't quite the hot stuff that he once thought he was.

Robby lives on probation doesn't he? Hell, by now I thik he might even be on double-secret probation.

He wants paid for winning Rookie of the Year.hahahahahahaha.He only won it cause there was nobody else running for it.

Kevin was promised X amount of dollars if he won the ROTY and he delivered. Robbie was promised X amount of dollars in a contract and he did not get paid.

I can understand both of their frustrations.

If nobody from nascar saw what happened, why is Robby on probation and Conway isn't? I also don't understand why he's suing Robby for his ROY money. Didn't he only drive 5 or 6 races for Robby?

That's a good question. It wasn't that long ago Jimmy Spencer ****ed Kurt Busch in the nose while he was sitting in his car. I think they both got put on probation, and all Busch did was get his face rearranged. They did have a running feud that I guess could have played into the decision though.

I'm not saying it makes sense to put both parties on probation, but since that seems to be standard procedure, it's a little fishy that nobody saw what happened, but they knew enough to punish only one of them.

Could it be that Nascar just doesn't like Robby?
ya think? robby certainly doesn't fit the mold of the modern nascar driver. <g> i would think the police report will be leaked today. if all he did was slug conway i hope it was a good one. might as well get your money's worth if he's going to call the cops on you anyway. conway is a jerk.

There are two things in Nascar you can count on:
R. Gordon will always lose points or be in trouble even if innocent.
Johnson will never lose points no matter how Knaus cheats.

That statement is so brutally honest it hurt me.

Maybe NASCAR is trying to suck up to ExtenZe and get them to become the Official ***** Enlargement Pills of NASCAR.:D

Kevin Conway Comments On Robby Gordon 'Physical Attack'

After declining comment to several reporters at Las Vegas, Kevin Conway released a statement late Monday night explaining his side of the altercation with Robby Gordon in the NASCAR garage.

Here is the full text of Conway's statement, in which he worked in references to sponsor ExtenZe:

"I don't mind stiff competition, but I want to make sure the hard facts are told. First and foremost, I love being a part of NASCAR and have worked very hard to earn the privilege of competing in the Sprint Cup Series.

On Friday night, Robby Gordon, who has a long history of issues in NASCAR decided to ambush me in the garage area at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, completely unprovoked.

Robby even confronted Joe Nemechek, my car owner, on pit road during Cup Series qualifying shoving him and telling him that he was looking for me and going to assault me. We have many witnesses including a crew chief that signed a police report documenting the truth of his physical attack on me.

Situations like this are not good for our sport. It's one thing if we were racing each other and I wrecked him or he wrecked me, that's an entirely different situation. It's very unfortunate that he chose to physically attack me to address his rage.

Our fans, sponsors and NASCAR expect and deserve more from our competitors than this bullish, illegal behavior that was displayed by Robby against me."

So now it's "I'd rather be wrecked, then confronted, man to man."
Hasn't n***** been preaching not to use their cars as weapons, because someone could get hurt, or killed, perhaps a fan in the stands?
Sounds like Conway has a serious case of pussyitis.

Hang in there Robby:beerbang:
