Rumors out of Welcome, North Carolina that Robby Gordon is out of the #31 Cingular Chevorlet Monte Carlo for Richard Childress... Dave Blaney or Ricky Craven would be one the replacements if it happens...

Dave Blaney or Ricky Craven taking over for Robby Gordon, what an upgrade that would be!

This came from the Winston Salem Journal... Mike (you know who).... Although I wouldn't be surprised

Well, if it came from "you know who", then I would at first doubt it.
But............................after the Louden shenanigans, it just could be!!

I always question the credibility and info from our friend "mike what's his name". I guess we'll just have to wait until some announcement is made by RCR.

The Boston Herald

Ricky Craven will replace the embattled Robby Gordon behind the wheel of the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing machine at Dover (Del.) this Sunday, Bostonherald.com has learned. Gordon’s contract was to expire at the end of the season and RCR is not seeking to re-sign him. Craven, of Newburgh, Maine, could not be reached for comment. Childress is expected to fire Gordon later this week after a poor showing at NHIS.

After what he did yesterday, he shouldn't be allowed to even finish the year off

This is bull$hit!!!

i have seen drivers do a lot worse and keep there rides, this is just BS!
Take a chill, lappy. Until RCR makes an official announcement, EVERYTHING is just heresay. ;)

I don't think this is the first time that Robby has been given his walking papers by a team. He lasted longer with RCR longer than most folks thought. That is if this is true.

Hmmm, could a certain Tony and his sponsor, a large and powerful retailer of home products, have had anything to do with this? There is also a little whisper that someone named Ray wasn't real happy either but he doesn't command the stroke (read money in NASCAR's pockets) this Orange sponsor does. Was RC actually told yesterday to go wait and they would get with him later? Money goes a long way for most people.

The Annoucment is comming this week in Dover or Welcome for the Fireing Robby Gordon.... Cingular Wireless is the biggest supporter for RCR, its all up to the Sponser and Owner of the car

AH why? I am so sick of this rotating door at RCR. Actually it seems like no ones job is safe in nascar anymore. Robby is a fun driver to watch on the track because he drives with emotion. I love it when he goes all out even if hes a lap down, he still races his heart out. Well hopefully he'll go to gibbs and drive the Fed Ex car next year because he definetly deserves a good ride.

I must admit that when R.Gordon first joined RCR, I didn't care for his style or attitude but I also must admit that the last year and a half I didn't find him all that bad.

That being said, I'd let him go. Not just because of the incident last weekend but taking into consideration his overall record. He really isn't all that competitive, save two tracks, and Childress must grow weary of defending time and time again.

Maybe if he had his own team, he'd be more careful with his gear.

Ironically enough, the person he got "involved" with at Louden is, ImHO, quickly gaining the same reputation that Gordon has had since he started cup racing.

They should listen to what Mayfield said and settle it off the track, in private.

Darn I wish they could have a Donald Trump moment where they show the owners getting in the drivers face and saying "You're Firedddddd". :D

Ok, sometimes I have a mean streak. I'm working on it.

No, not really. But, it seemed like the right thing to say at the moment...

Ricky Craven is being fitted for a suit and seat for the#31 Cingular Wireless Chevy for this weekend Dover Speedway Weekend.

Source?

Boston Herald - According to a NASCAR source, Gordon's employer, Richard Childress Racing, has taken immediate action, reportedly asking driver Ricky Craven of Newburgh, Maine, to take over the wheel at Dover, Delaware, this weekend. Craven was behind the wheel of the #32 Tide Chevy for PPI Motorsports in Sunday's Sylvania 300, in what was to be his last race since team owner Cal Wells signed another driver in the beginning of September. Craven could not be reached for comment, and a spokesperson from Hawk Sport Management would not confirm or deny that the agency's client will be driving for Childress this weekend. (Boston Herald)

So far thats the only source actually running the news. I dont believe it. No other media outlets have reported that same thing, and that paper (Boston - New England) is very pro Craven. If Jeff Gordon didnt have a lifetime contract with Hendrick they would print that Craven is going to the #24 car.

Do you care to wager on this.?? Maybe an avatar for a week if Robby is replaced by Dover?

WOW, i've never seen a bloodthirstier group salivating over the firing of someone like this before..I'm pretty sure a lot of this comes from venting anger at nascar....if there wasn't a chase, mayfield wouldn't have had a shot and stewart would just fall back a little....but hey, those are the new rules, so the "competition" is "better" and the "fans" are "angrier"...cool, good work nascar.

And to think the accident didnt involve the C4C drivers directly. Robby didnt wreck them, they just got caught up in it.

If its this bad now, Im just waiting for Junior or Jeff Gordon to wreck someone who is in the C4C... I cant wait until they get called for the death penalty.

XM Radio's NASCAR Channel 144 reporter, Claire B. Lang, reports that her contacts at RCR say Robby Gordon is still their driver and will be in the #31 Chevy at Dover. Also, Claire said she was not pushed by Gordon and was in a group of about 10 other reporters at the time.

I got this from jayski.com...so, the reporter he "pushed" didn't get "pushed"...hmmm

Welcome to Salem, the witch hunt is on...!

I'm somewhere in the middle on this. I think it's somewhat overblown. What's the difference in what Robby did and Biffle spinning Marlin or anyone spinning anyone else for that matter. It happens all the time. Many times with intent but just not voiced on the radio. Harvick spinning Kenseth, Kenseth spinning Harvick, etc. Tony spinning someone. I think Robby is a victim of his reputation even though he has been a fairly clean driver the last several years. I would say Biffle is a much dirtier driver. It's all about who you are (kinda like the WWE). Either way I'm sure sponsors don't like to see the negative publicity. He probably would have been fine except for the post race media moment. When you get those guys against you it's over.

side note: 2 down 1 to go, maybe I'll like RCR one of these days if they keep adding classy drivers, Ward in the 31 would be nice next year

this won't be the last time one of the chase guys gets collected in a wreck, the media is loving it

And Helton is too. Welcome to the chase for the championship, overdramatized fake racing at its best!

:bslfag:

Hey, I like Robby, and RCR... but I think his full time shot is over. He needs to go back and be a road course specialist and race in other series. He could dominate in the Rolex series or SCCA... Sorry Robby, but "your fired"

Just a question, how do you determine when a driver's full time shot is over? Does this mean that the 15 other full time drivers behind him in points should be out of a ride also?

*sitting back, watching everything he has predicted for six months come to fruition, laughing at all the double talk, thoroughly enjoying himself*

Richard? Richard Childress? Welcome to the racing-forums and thanks for the exlcusive info on Robby "El Diablo" Gordon.

If Childress joins here, I'm history. It's either that or be in jail by dark. :p

In all fairness, Craven's never had the quality ride Robby's had either.

Just pointing it out, point that thing somewhere else...

Uhhh... the only quality ride Robby has had has been with RCR, and RCR is far from quality as it is.

While Ricky has been with Hendrick, Cal Wells during their strong period, etc.
