I think alot of people don't like him because he says what's on his mind and does'nt pull punches. Like calling Waltrip a piece of **** last year.
I was just wondering, because i have heard him booed at races, and when ppl ask me my fav driver and i say Robby Gordon almost everytime i get "Robby? why do you like him?" and a funny look.

Lappy my friend, I think they don't like him because he goes against the grain. He isn't afraid to stand up to the Tony Stewart and Michael Waltrips in the "fan favorite" category...even when he was an outsider...he didn't take crap from anyone. Remember when Stewart grabbed Vickers and shook him in his car? Vickers rolled over like a nancy boy? Robby wouldn't handle that kind of mess...I think Robby DID mean what he said about waltrip and I think he's probably right. Very few people will give you the straight story, but with Robby you get it. Its hard to accept someone like that in the new vanilla PC world of nascar. I think its funny, he would have fit right in back in the day, but now, he gets booed.

That's an interesting question.
Why does a fan like or dislike any driver? Sometimes I think maybe fans get tired of hearing how great a race car driver he is when maybe they're Nascar fans - not Baja fans. Maybe it's because his name sounds to much like another certain driver. Maybe it's because he burned alot of bridges and P.O.'d some people when driving for RCR. It's also possible that the people who dislike him so much are simply only interested in hearing news about their favorite driver and want the spotlight on them all the time.
It could be whenever there's someone around to critisize him, there's always someone there to jump to his defence - no matter who's wrong or right.

Those were the comments I had heard in the beginning--they weren't "true" NASCAR drivers. It happends to be one of the reasons I like them. I think it's impressive that some one can be competetive in more than one style of racing.

Maybe the it's coming from the Jr fans who are just to stupid to realize which Gordon it is. Stewart used to be a guy everyone hated because of the stuff he used to do. Now that he has calmed down and started winning, they love him. I liked him better when he was a prick.

Robby is a true racer, so is Smoke, that is what i love about those guys. I also love that they stand up for what they believe in no matter what Nascar says. We need guys like this in the sport. The wishy washy types that frequent Nascar these days get old quickly, it is nice when some really "tells it like it is".

I think Robby would do much much better if he was not driving the car wide open as much, if he would back out a little sooner and drive the car in a little smoother id say he would be winning races. I sure wish he stayed with RCR tho.
