Im definitely sold that Robby made the right move and that RCR is in trouble.

Interesting stuff here:

From Jayski:
INDY 500 plans: Saying that his biggest weakness last year was engines, Robby Gordon said the team will run Menard engines and are testing the new Menard restrictor plate engine here at Daytona. The first restrictor plate engine ever produced by Menard. The parts for the engines are produced in England and assembled in the States on a Chevrolet block.

From Nascar.com:
Two of the races I won for Richard, we produced the chassis; they were road-course chassis. Robby Gordon Motorsports produced the chassis, RCR put the engines and bodies in them, so it was a team effort.

Today from ThatsRacin:
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Pulling out all stops in attempt to find much-needed speed, Richard Childress Racing officials decided late Wednesday to try a Hendrick Motorsports engine in their No. 29 Chevrolet, driven this week by Kerry Earnhardt.

After spending more than an hour and a half on the swap-out, Earnhardt managed to travel about 200 feet in the garage before developing transmission problems. The team was not able to complete repairs before the end of the session.

Officially, RCR officials dubbed the move "part of a General Motors project." A Hendrick spokesperson said it was "nothing more than one Chevy team sharing information with another."

There is no question, however, the RCR teams have struggled.

Wednesday, the fastest RCR car – the No. 07 driven by Dave Blaney – ranked only 21st fastest among the 44 cars that saw time on the track. Jeff Burton's No. 31a ranked 32nd and Earnhardt's No. 29a was 41st.

That's all very interesting. :) But it only counts come the checkered flag Feb 20th!! :D

It may be DE_W but I do believe RCR has a problem with their engine dept.

Aren't these tests "alone"? single car sessions?

Then Thursday is drafting day?

That just means that the qualify'n times aren't up. but, the race speeds might be?

I don't put much stock in those speeds when you consider that Jr. and Waltrip were ranked 42nd and 25th. Everybody knows they'll be up front contending come February.

my opinion is that the majority of the cars run what they got to see how it will work, then there is those who know that they are going to be better then everyone else so they dont have to show their stuff. I agree that RCR is lacking in their engine Dept. they need to get it together so robby wont show them up so much
