Robby & Tony to team up for 05 Indy 500?

Robby and Tony almost team up for Indy: Robby Gordon says he’d love to have Tony Stewart as a teammate for the 2005 Indianapolis 500. "It’s something that we should consider next year. I don’t know what his plans are but I will run a car next year and if he wants to drive one of them we’ll put him in one." Gordon says Stewart asked him over a week ago about a back-up car. "I got pretty excited because hey, yeah, we’ll run him in a back-up car...it’s a Chevrolet…heck (Gordon joked) we could race cars, race helicopters, race airplanes and race helicopters again and see who wins." As for Stewart’s appearance at the Brickyard over the weekend Gordon said "To do what he did and not drive the car was pretty disappointing because I was anxious to see him get out there and bust off a couple laps. It just would have been neat to see how quick he got up to speed. He’s proven he can drive Indy cars...he could do it with his eyes closed...it was just disappointed he didn’t drive it at all."(PRN's Garage Pass Radio Show)(5-25-2004)
 
That's great.. that means that on the flight from Indy to Charlotte, they can fight each other for taking each other out of the 500... Then beat each other up at the 600... This should be fun.
 
hey, i think that would be awesome, you know, for some reason, NASCAR has this kind of low class image whereas IRL appears as classy to most people (maybe it's the fact that NASCAR is stock cars or something)...it would be a good chance for NASCAR guys to go over, kick some butt and garner some more respect for NASCAR Racing.
 
Seems like a good idea to me.

Although I don't really care for either one of them much, they can both drive the heck out of any kind of a car.
 
I think that would be fantastic, I really hope it happens. I like both of them. :D

Ok so have andretti and foyt run both as well... we need field fillers for both races! LOL
 
I actually heard that Foyt has been doing really well in IRL, better than his brother...I don't know where I heard it, just heard it...
 
I would think that the IRL would want this in the worst way. How else could you had millions of fans to the broadcast.
 
well, IRL needs at least 33 for the 500 and we need 43 for the 600.. Maybe they should move "bump day" over to cup. That would make qualifying more interesting.
 
I didn't know that tony stewart was running in the indianapolis 500. From what I hear, it costs alot to be in the indy 500 unless you win.
 
From what I understand, it takes somewhere around a million dollars for testing and to race in the Indy 500.

Tony is not in this years race. This is just speculation for next year. Take it with a grain of salt.
