ROBBY GORDON WILL HEAD BACK TO DAKAR

Robby Gordon will again attempt to run the 17-day Dakar Rally. This will be Gordon's third attempt at the event, which begins January 6 and consists of 16 stages.

As he did in 2006, Gordon once again will drive his own vehicle under the Team Dakar USA banner. His first outing, in 2005, was with Team Volkswagen.

Last year the team was forced to retire just over halfway because of mechanical issues. In 2005, Gordon became the first American to win a stage, scoring victories in two and finishing 12th overall.

I wish him the best!

uh...how many roots does robby gordon have? I heard he may skip the coke 600 for the indy 500 in 2007- he has a sponsor that wants to pay him more for the indy 500 than he would make in the coke 600....

I don't know if that is a good idea, just to do it for the money. Do the sponsors have a say in it? Or mabey he'll put someone else in the car.
Either way I don't think it would be a cool move on his part.

I'd really like to see the source on this one.

Gordon hopes to run 'double' again soon: Robby Gordon told Sirius Speedway (MRN Radio/Sirius Satellite Radio) that the door is not closed on a driver running both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in the same day, and that he is considering attempting the Indy/Charlotte double next season. "They changed the starting time for the Indy 500, but Indianapolis also changed time zones," he said. "It's still possible for someone to do both, and I may try it again next year. I've come close to winning the Indy 500 before, and it's still a goal of mine at some point in my career. But I'm not interested in `doing the double' just for the sake of doing it. I want to be competitive in both races, with a chance to win. I'm not interested in riding around Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the middle of the pack. If I can't be compeitive and have a chance to win, I won't do it."(MRN Radio/Sirius Satellite Radio)(5-27-2006)

He also said he has a solid deal to run the 2007 Indy 500, but that there still were some minor issues to be resolved.

Robby said he has some sponsers for the Indy 500, but is going to see how NASCAR is going to do the chase for next year, because there is talks about them going to owner points, and he is going to just see what happanes.

But its in his blood to race and win the Indy 500.

Lappy, it's in his blood to race ANYTHING, a lot like Schrader and Stewart. Robby just loves to race!
