The Rock's good as done now. They're off the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule.

Damn shame the fans who said they'd support this track when it reopened never showed up.:(

I think maybe there were 10k there for this years' race, but it is ARCAs' fault they didn't market this race properly....they really need to upgrade their PR department.

Yes. The head of marketing is very opposed to utilizing Facebook and Twitter -- stuck on this "ARCA Nation" platform that everyone's abandoned. And it pisses me off to no end that they record the races and have highlights available and won't post them to YouTube.

But Andy Hillenburg does a very good job promoting their races -- banners all over downtown Rockingham, Thunderfest, etc. The City of Rockingham is also firmly behind The Rock. The fans just won't show up... blame ARCA all you want but it's mostly the fans. They said they'd show up when it reopened but won't show up because it's not the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Well this sucks. :(

I guess that's the final nail in The Rock.

As terrible as ARCA is at marketing their product, it's hard for me to blame them for this. 99% of the blame goes to the fans who didn't show up after they said they would.

They had more excuses than somebody in court.

Yep, goes to show how ****ty NASCAR fans (not the ones on here but the ones who watch WWE and root for Kasey Kahne because they think he's hot) are.

If I'd had the money, I'd buy the track and market the Hell out of it to all the racing organization, try to get SOMEONE to come out to race there.

It won't happen, they won't show up. Andy did market the hell out of it.

If all the fans who said they'd show up when the track re-opened did show up, we're talking about The Rock getting a Truck or Nationwide race in 2012 not The Rock losing its ARCA race -- and that's a fact.

Who are all these fans that you are talking about...? I never head thousands upon thousands of fans say they will show up.

The thousands of fans on NASCAR.com that ***** about The Rock losing its races everytime an article about California or Texas shows up on NASCAR.com, the thousands of fans who promised Andy Hillenburg they'd show up, the thousands of fans that had pitchforks out when NASCAR took Rockingham off the schedule (a bad crowd at California is better than a good day at The Rock), the thousands of fans who wrote to Ryan McGee at ESPN and told him they can't wait to attend a race there.

They were almost giving away tickets to the final ARCA race there. They had the special, I think it was 4 tickets for $44 dollars? And it also included a hot dog and drink for each ticket.

I think you are exaggerating just a tad. I really doubt it was thousands. Also who has the damn money to throw around anymore?????

And it was well promoted... SPEED talked about that on air and several ESPN commentators were tweeting about it (ESPN even had a reporter there covering that race which, in ARCA, only happens for the Cup-weekends).

The fans, those within 150-200 miles of The Rock, have no right to complain about that track losing a NASCAR race unless they showed up to a race there.

And I will start calling them out on it.

:XXROFL: They were practically giving away tickets to the American 200. 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and a 4 sodas for $44, plus you can bring your own food and drinks in, and free parking.

That argument doesn't hold any weight with me. Certain short tracks in NC and across America draw bigger crowds EVERY SINGLE WEEK (and some of those track have much more expensive ticket prices).

Oh, are you going to the ARCA race at Madison?

So, what will happen to The Rock now?

Maybe Jr will buy it, and brush up on his driving skills in the off season.
Oh, never mind, he'll be playing online games with his posse, drinking beer, and getting fat...:D:D

*laughs* It's funny because it's true.

Auto racing is headed in the same direction as horse racing. The interest just doesn't seem to be there like it used to be.

Yeah, but sometimes I go to the horse races and leave with more money than I came with. Thats yet to happen to me at a nascar race.
