FRESNO, CA (June 9) – Mark Kinser has been hired as the driver and Karl Kinser is the new crew chief for the #83 Beef Packers Maxim that races with the World of Outlaws Sprint Series, car owner Dennis Roth announced Wednesday.
“This is exciting!” Roth exclaimed. “I really wasn’t sure if we would be able to put something together with them. It came up on the spur of the moment. Karl is the greatest mechanic in sprint car racing history and Mark, his son, has won a lot of races. I think, with my help, they can put together a team that will win a lot of races. I think this will be exciting for the fans and we will be a player out there every night.”
Karl Kinser has won 17 World of Outlaws Sprint Series championships as a car owner/crew chief. Mark, who drove for Karl during the 1996, 1997 and 1999 championship seasons, ranks third on the series’ all-time “A” Feature victory list with 152. The three-time Knoxville Nationals champion won the Spring Classic at Knoxville Raceway in only his second World of Outlaws Sprint Series event of the 2004 season. The series’ 1984 co-Rookie of the Year has recorded six top-10 finishes – four in the top three – in nine events and ranks 23rd in the point standings.
Roth has been a car owner with sprint car racing’s premier series since 1996 and has employed such drivers as Joey Saldana, Paul McMahan, Danny Lasoski and Tim Shaffer. Lasoski won the 1998 Knoxville Nationals in the #83.
Shaffer, who has raced for Roth the last 2½ years, ranks ninth in the point standings. “The Steel City Outlaw” has recorded 14 top-10 finishes, including six in the top five, this season. Tim has won six “A” Features in his World of Outlaws Sprint Series career, but has not visited victory lane this year. Lonny Parsons hired the 1997 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year to drive the #6 Casey’s General Stores Maxim Monday.
The #83 Beef Packers Maxim will return to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series June 18-19 during the 21st Annual Eagle Nationals at Eagle Raceway.
