ROTY POINTS SYSTEM

Jimmie Johnsons finished ahead of ryan in the wc points standings, but ryan won the roty. I think that proves the roty system needs changing. Whats your opinion?

I say that it should be determined on drivers points. The Rookie of the Year award should be awarded to whichever Rookie is highest in points. There's no other logical or simple way to judge this.

No. It works the way it was intended to, and if a point system does that, then more often than not, it doesn't need changing.

And another note: it's not as if Jimmie completey blew away Ryan in the driver point last year. He only finished 7 points ahead (4600 to 4593) in that department. Not enough of a difference to be up in arms over, if you ask me.

Personally, I'd like to see the rookie who finishes highest in the standings get the award.

Throwing out races just doesn't seem fair. Let the best finishing rookie in points win it!

The best rookie did win last year. Some folks are up in arms about changing the championship points this year because Matt is blowing e/o away but only has one win. The ROTY points system rewards extra points to drivers for a top 10 finish & winning races, that's a big reason why JJ won it last year...he had three wins to Ryan's one.

I just think the system presently used to determine ROTY is so convoluted that it would be a lot easier for the average fan to understand if it were changed to whomever finished highest in the final standings.
