I will have a complete summary of the round one results posted soon.

The eight round two polls will be designated as:

2.1
2.2
2.3
2.4
2.5
2.6
2.7
2.8

The letter format is dropped, in round one, I eliminated the letter L, so now it is simple numbers.

Yep Gordon vs Earnhardt and Stewart vs Yarborough should be very interesting!

Man if I could match up a Fantasy Race it would have to have Cale Yarborough and Tony Stewart in it!

Those were the two match ups that caught my eye.

I don't know if it's possible, but I think one poll with all 16 would avoid Gordon getting knocked out by Sr while DW beats out Jr Johnson.

I really hate seeing Gordon and Earnhardt, head to head this early.

Better in the final 8, or 4, but I want to follow the protocol. Making exceptions in the middle would hurt the integrity of an already imperfect criteria.

If I went that way, I would have also avoided putting the Busch brothers against each other in round one.

Either Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt will finish between 9th and 16th. I think their both better, but thats a glitch or problem I can't address in this contest.

It is what it is....

Here is the actual vote score utilized to rank the current 16.

The vote count from round one immediately follows the drivers name, it was the main criteria.

1 Petty, Richard 35 96.67%
2 Labonte, Terry 32 100.00%
3 Waltrip, Darrell 29 96.55%
4 Allison, Bobby 29 80.65%
5 Johnson, Jimmie 28 78.13%
6 Pearson, David 28 100.00%
7 Gordon, Jeff 25 82.14%
8 Stewart, Tony 25 60.53%
9 Yarborough Cale 23 72.41%
10 Earnhardt, Dale Sr. 23 66.67%
11 Wallace, Rusty 23 51.52%
12 Martin, Mark 21 77.78%
13 Jarrett, Ned 20 48.28%
14 Johnson, Junior 17 43.86%
15 Petty, Lee 14 39.47%
16 Thomas, Herb 14 41.38%

The tiebreaker(s) was needed for Waltrip and Allison. Waltrip got it with the 2nd tiebreaker, his original seed or default was higher based on championships.

The tiebreaker(s) was also needed for Earnhardt and Wallace. Earnhardt got it with the 1st tiebreaker, with a higher win percentage.

One error has been detected.

Pearson should have been seeded higher than Jimmie Johnson, but I believe little is effected in this round.

It would have only flipped Wallace and Martin in respective their polls.

Here are the 32 that were eliminated in round one.

Thanks for the kind words, I love the racing memories and it is fun for me too. It is mutual, I appreciate and thank every participant for making the idea work.

But the admin and owners, and moderators are the real deal.

Their paying for this off season racing junkie fix thread now, and for the whole year deal. They have to clean up our stupid and not nice moments.

Just my two cents, I saw another racing forum board fold recently, so we can't take them for granted.

They deserve our appreciation.

UH OH! Looks like Cales going to wind up head to head with Earnhardt.

FYI: The polls will all close on Saturday the 24th.

I will not promise a quick wrap-up or report, and I suspect others will be having good family time as well.

If you should be browsing in the mean time, you can easily check the polls to see the final results.

Most likely I will do a wrap up, and post the seeds for the final 8, on Monday the 26th.

Round 3 will begin shortly afterwards, it will consist of 4 polls, all lasting 5 days as well.

It is highly unlikely that we will have a tie. But if we do, we will not run those off head to head simply because they already tied once.

I do have a procedure, hopefully I can explain it.

If it happened in this round the first six seeds would advance as usual based on:

1. Total vote count
2. or with the first tiebreaker highest poll vote percentage
3. If their still tied then finally the original seed position.

-An additional runoff round would be needed to set the last 2 of the final 8, and they would be settled by the following seed procedures.

# 7 Who actually won their poll would face the 9th seed [or the the tied driver with the lowest seed]

# 8 who tied with the # 9, but has tiebreaking advantages would face # 10, or the fist loser in the prior polls.

There can be no tie, 9 must best 7 by one at least vote, and 10 must beat 8 in this case, othersise the better seed advances with a tie or win.

The two run off winners would advance to the next round as seeds # 7 and 8.

this may sound insane, and cause a headache. It is only noted to reference for polls that finish with a tie.

1. But I must have clearly defined rules to avoid any appearance of favoritism.

2. Pitting two previously tied drivers will be avoided if at all possible, except for the final two. Even if exceptions to the seed positions are required.
