Five-Team Owner [#'s 6,16,17,26,99] Jack Roush said he and NASCAR have agreed on the basics of how to get his Nextel Cup team down to four cars, which was mandated by the sanctioning body late last season. “We will go back to four teams, but it’s not immediate,” Roush said. “There is a cap of four [Cup teams]. I will comply with that when I’m past my commitments I have with drivers and sponsors. We’ve finally got an understanding of what is possible and what we can do.” Roush would not speculate on when his team might go back to four cars, but said his existing commitments expire between 2009 and 2011.(Ford Racing)(1-25-2006)

Does this mean that even if NASCAR sets a date to comply that Roush doesn't have to until his driver/sponser contracts are up?

Roush is such a whiner. All he does is complain when something doesn't go his way.

Yeah, but you can say what you want, he still had all of his cars in the Chase last year. Precisely why NASCAR implemented this cap.
Jack Roush does well, no matter what. A very smart man, in my eyes.

The fact that all his drivers made the chase last season made me hate him even more.

Three Roush cars in the top six in today's Busch race.
If you're a Chevy guy, guess you wouldn't like 'Ol Jack.

meanwhile...roush will have a sixth car for 7 races this year....

I thought Mark was retiring from Cup. Viagra is no longer on the 6 car. Am I missing something?

Martin will retire after this year.....the dude "not sure of his name" that will be driving the sixth car for 7 races this year...will take over Mark's car for next year

But, the point is he will be driving. Not is driving. And Jack knew of the change last year. So why does he get a free pass?

I'm thinking the single car owners should form a consortium.. Pool their resources.. pool their knowledge.. It would work like one huge team.. Then who would have the cars to beat?
