Latest on Roush Fenway Racing having to trim a team: The five-car stable of Roush Fenway Racing (#16-Greg Biffle, #99-Carl Edwards, #17-Matt Kenseth, #6-David Ragan, #26-Jamie McMurray) must be trimmed to four vehicles for the 2010 season. According to Brian Corcoran, executive vice president of Fenway Sports Group, a decision should take place by August because of sponsorship obligations. An alternative is for one of the drivers (most likely Ragan or McMurray) to switch to Yates Racing, the current home of #96-Bobby Labonte and #98-Paul Menard. Roush has an existing partnership with Yates. “Should be an interesting 45 days,’’ Corcoran said. Corcoran also noted that Roush is still in discussions with DeWalt, the primary sponsor of Kenseth’s #17 Ford. Currently, DeWalt may not have the funds to continue primary sponsorship of the #17 next season.(Boston Globe)(6-29-2009)

And this cuts Roush to a mere four teams (Two too many in my opinion) exactly how?

It's been assumed that McMurray would be the one going to Yates. But to see Ragan's name there is interesting. I thought he was Jack's chosen one, even though he didn't chose him in the last Gong Show they held (Erik Darnell won).

Ragan falling well short of expectations so far this year probably has something to do with it.

rousch sends a 5 digit check every week to yates to pay for Jmac or Ragan...
With Roush technology, Roush mechanics, Roush parts, Roush crew chief, Roush tools and they're probably even "lease" the space all this is now taking place in, in their current garage?

Yep. Sounds like Roush has cut to a mere four teams, alright.

Sorry. I think it's wrong on so many levels.

Where there's a will, there's a way...(around rules).

I'm sorry, but I don't see that in him. I think he had some good runs and got lucky to finish where he did. This year is more the norm.

Like any good rule, the ownership rule has loopholes that you could park a NASCAR hauler sideways in. When the original rule that an owner could only have two teams, that's when people like Georgetta Roush ended as owners. Now that the rule book states only 4 teams, "technical alliances" have formed and now, instead of teams with only three, four or five teams are now able to have 8 or more. The Yates/Roush/Wood connection is prime example. That now accounts for 8 teams in an alliance: 6,16,17,21,26,96,98,99. Technically Yates can add at least one more team and if the Wood Bros. so desired, they could add three teams, making a 12 car alliance. How hard would that be to compete against. Well, ask Rick Hendrick. He has four teams, add to that the two from Stewart/Haas. How about Kesolowski? JRM or Finch? That's 7 teams now. Stewart/Haas can add two teams. If JRM picks up Kesolowski in Cup, they could add three more to that. Now, we have a 12 team alliance. Finch could be a one team deal, but they could have four teams. That could potentially make it a 16 car alliance. Technically between Roush and Hendricks, that would account for 28 teams. That's just doing the easy math. How about the RCR/EGM connection? That could be an 8 car alliance easy (no pun intended.) That doesn't include the Toyota or Dodge people. That could be make one very dizzy. If NASCAR was looking for pairity, they actually accomplished just the opposite.
