I'm having a hard time wrapping my feeble brain around his logic. If you're turning high rpm's and have grip you'll be outrunning the field. His cars were good but not that good. If you don't have grip you'll have wheel spin off the corners and your rpm's are going to be way up there too. In both cases the rev limiter should be kicking in, they weren't.
Blowing a motor with a few laps to go is completely different from blowing one in 3 laps from the start. Unless they share a common part failure. They haven't said exactly what yet. Valve springs?

I'm thinking Jack is taking "I hate Goodyear 101" correspondence course from Tony.

I think Roush was actually sayin they messed up..... they didn't realize how good the tires were...... He said they misjudged how much grip the tires had..... in other words, the cars were biting, and hooking up coming off the corners with higher RPM's...... thus really high RPM's at the end of the straights..... maybe they shoulda pulled a lower gear. Those 9700 RPM's all day hurt.

Jack logic,I'm surprised he doesn't have a Goodies Headache powders sponsorship.

I would have to agrre here. He pretty much admitted, they chose the wrong gear. And yes, i was scared seeing the 9700 numbers on TV.....
