@Clutch ya can't say I didn't warn you. haha. Yea, Oklahoma roads are horrible. It will get better as you re-join I-40 from Amarillo westward.

After you leave Amarillo about 70 miles west will be the New Mexico state line and the first exit which is just past the rest area is Russell's Travel Center at exit 369 and they have a free museum inside that has a lot of nice cars and other cool historical items to check out. It is definitely worth stopping and checking it out if you have the time.

Darn it. Passed right on by without thinking. It is so cool to see your adventure across America. Even with the extreme number of miles that I have logged traveling across this country most of my life to make a living... I'm seeing so many things I have never seen before. 
Took a detour. We left a fantastic RV Park this morning west Albuquerque part of a Casino with a trick stop.... Fabulous.

Although not born in Chicago, my dad left Chicago in 1956 for the west coast. Came out here on 66.
Too funny.... My wife named them mittens
That's what they're called. One is East Mitten, the other West Mitten.
This morning we the very cool Hotel El Rancho in Gallup, NM and took the old route 66 into Arizona then took the I-40 to the Petrified Forest National Park. Toured around the park and have just arrived in Holbrook for the night at the Wigwam Motel.
