Hello everyone, I hope you are all able to enjoy the week off from all NASCAR racing as it is the only one you get all year. During this off week, I have just a few important things to address and I would very much appreciate your participation.
I want all of your opinions on some things, I am readdressing the Player's Council, and it is time to introduce the 2017 All-Star Format and open the voting!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voice Your Opinion
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, I want to hear from you your thoughts on the changes that have been made this season. I am NOT asking for your opinion about the changes NASCAR has made, I am asking only for this league. Here are the things I want you to focus on:
- Top-10 finishers of the race get bonus points added to their score similar to the Stages
- Grand Slam races providing one extra playoff point to each Stage and race winner
- Saves giving 50-75% of last place score for an absence, loss of playoff eligibility after 3rd absence
- Content. Do you like how you're able to see the playoff points? Do you want to see how many Stage points you've earned? What do you/do you not want to see in the weekly blog posts?
Let me know your thoughts on these things as we continue to move forward throughout the season.

Join the Player's Council
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I mentioned last week about the Player's Council. It consists of several players from different perspectives throughout the league that I will include in an email thread. The purpose is to have a small, closed environment where thoughts and ideas can be shared and discussed during the year.
Last year was more of a trial year as I did not know how it would work out. I did not get through everything that I had wanted to with last year's Council, but that just means we have more things to cover with this year's! So far, I have heard from 4 people about being on the Council. I am still looking for a few more people, and if we are unable to find people from these perspectives then I will contact last year's Council and invite them to return this year.
Mik Maqracer83 and Jakub Smetana are invited to be on the Council due to their Series Championships in 2016, but they do not have to accept that invitation. We are also looking for a total of:
2 people from Racing-Reference (1 Cup only, 1 All Series, preferred)
1 person from Racing-Forums
1 person from Facebook
1 person from Email
1 person from Text
Remember, you MUST email me at [email protected] if you are interested! I will announce who is on the 2017 Player's Council on April 17.

2017 All-Star Format and Voting
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone in the league is participating in the non-points All-Star weekend one way or another. Please read carefully so you know your role and how to proceed!
All players in the league will be providing a Top-10 prediction for the All-Star Race, just like any other. The only difference is that you cannot place any Open driver in your prediction. The Open takes place the night before the All-Star Race, so even if you know what Open drivers made it into the All-Star, you cannot include them in your prediction as it would be an unfair advantage as earlier posters would not have had that knowledge.
If you are already eligible for the All-Star Race, then when that weekend comes, that's all you have to worry about! Just post that prediction and get ready to go racing. If you are not already eligible, you're going to have to earn a spot into the All-Star Race by going through the Open. So that means you must post Top-10 predictions for both the All-Star Race AND the Open. Do not just post your Open prediction and wait to find out if you get into the All-Star Race or not. You must post BOTH predictions in order to compete, because that tells me that you are ready for the All-Star Race should you qualify.
How do you make it from the Open to the All-Star? The Open is split into 3 segments. The first two are 20 laps each and the final segment is 10 laps. The winner of each segment gets into the All-Star Race. The Segment 1 winner is not included in the results of Segment 2 and 3 and the Segment 2 winner is not included in the results of Segment 3. This ensures that we will have 3 separate segment winners race into the All-Star Race.
There is another way to make it into the All-Star Race from the Open and that is the Fan Vote. In this case, it is the Peer Vote. Every player has the ability to vote for an Open player to get into the All-Star Race. You are allowed three votes per week (Monday-Sunday), you cannot vote for the same person twice in one week, and you cannot vote for yourself. Voting opens TODAY and closes at the green flag of the Open. The person with the most votes and did not race their way into the All-Star Race will be voted into the All-Star Race. If there is a tie in votes, the higher finishing player in the Open will win the vote.
It is HIGHLY encouraged to submit votes privately. You can message votes to me here on racing-forums. Message me on Facebook: www.facebook.com/RRFantasyNASCAR. Tweet your votes to @RRFantasyNASCAR. Or email them to me at [email protected].
How do you know if you are in the All-Star or the Open? All 2016 and 2017 Cup Series winners are eligible for the All-Star Race. They are:

So how do you win the All-Star Race? There are 3 20-lap segments in the All-Star Race and 1 final 10-lap segment with just 10 players. So how do you become one of those 10 players? If you win one of the 3 20-lap segments, you are going to be one of the 10 players in the final segment. Unlike the Open, you CAN win multiple segments. The rest of the 10 is filled by the players with the highest average finish in the 3 segments. Then those 10 players will be the ones competing for the All-Star victory during the final segment.
Thank you all for reading and being a part of this league! Have a Happy Easter!
