The Fantasy NASCAR Playoffs are finally here! For those playing in the Xfinity and Truck Series, this weekend is also your last chance to make the playoffs!! Also, please be aware that I will be attending all events at the track over the weekend. Follow along on social media, information is at the bottom of the post. This also means there will be no Fantasy updates.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Registration Renewal
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One last thing before we get to the meat and potatoes of the weekend, this is the first weekend in which you can renew your registration for the 2018 season! All you have to do is confirm with me that you intend to return in 2018 and give me the username, number, colors, and manufacturer you wish to use next year. This is all tentative and you are allowed to change all of the info before next season starts and you will have to confirm your registration again once we get closer to the start of the season.
The reason for this boils down to the numbers. Of course, this also helps me plan ahead for next year and see who may or may not be returning in 2018. But mainly, this is for the numbers. If you renew your registration now, you get priority choice for the number you want. If more than one person wants the same number, the player higher in the final points gets first pick. After the final race of the year, new players are allowed to start registering and numbers will then be first come, first serve. So if you want to ensure you will have your number again next year, be sure to renew your registration before then!!

Playoff Banners
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16 players have reset their points to 2000 plus all of the playoff points they have received so far in the season. The next 3 races will proceed as normal with Chicagoland, New Hampshire, and Dover on the schedule. If any of the 16 playoff contenders win, they lock themselves into the next round (if they compete in all 3 races of the round). This is why those that are not in the playoff are encouraged and expected to continue playing throughout the remainder of the season as your performance could affect how the playoff is played out. After Dover, the bottom 4 players are then eliminated from the playoff and the rest of the 12 will be reset to 3000 points and it is at this point where the playoff points throughout the season (including the playoffs) are added. Playoff points earned during the playoff are NOT added to the point totals until the reset of each round except for Homestead-Miami.
If there are any further questions to how the playoff works, I will be happy to answer them. Now it is time to introduce the 2017 Fantasy NASCAR Playoff contenders...
The 2017 Regular Season Champion, #60 Nascarnana, made her way into the playoff with a win at Auto Club Speedway. Surprisingly, though, her average finish is worst among playoff contenders, 22.0. She has 3 Stage wins, 4 Top-5's and 5 Top-10's along with 3 Poles.
#22 Fordracing7 won at Last Vegas and the Bristol night race, paving his way into the playoff. His average finish of 16.2 is 2nd among the playoff contenders. He has 4 Stage wins to his credit and 4 Top-5 finishes. He is one of only 4 players in the league with double digit Top-10's (11) and only one of 2 in this year's playoff.
#16 Victree8 deserves a lot of credit. Not only did he lead the league in wins (3, Daytona, Atlanta, and Sonoma), but he is also the one that made all of these banners. He has 3 Stage wins, 4 Top-5's and 6 Top-10's with an average finish of 18.76.
#5 Joey2448 has been the king of the Stages in 2017, winning 7 of them! His win at Kentucky put him in the playoff. He has 3 Top-5's and 8 Top-10's with an average finish of 17.28.
#94 Bob had two wins this year, Talladega and Charlotte, but he also has the honor of being the player to win that extra 3rd Stage during the 600. That Stage was just one of his 4 Stage wins this year. He has 6 Top-5's and 8 Top-10's with an average finish of 21.23.
#90 ToyYoda won at the Monster Mile to earn his playoff berth. He's won 3 Stages and has 5 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's with an average finish of 17.27. His worst finish in the last 5 races is 16th, only one player has done better in that span.
#70 Himtan Racin is the only other player besides Victree8 to at one point lead the Playoff Grid during the Regular Season. That was after his 2nd win of the year at Michigan and he held it for one week before Victree8 won at Sonoma. Hitman Racin also won earlier in the year at Texas. He has 4 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's with an average finish of 20.81.
#24 24over48 leads all playoff contenders in several categories. He leads the league with a 14.04 average finish and 13 Top-10's, that's half of the regular season. Despite all of the Top-10 efforts, he's yet to win a race and has only 4 Top-5 finishes, but does have 2 Stage wins. He's finished outside of the Top-20 only 6 times.
#18 Oldschoolracing519's path to the playoff wasn't tricky, he swept the races at Pocono. The #18 has an average finish of 18.08 with a Stage win, 3 Top-5's and 5 Top-10's.
#76 Jolly Mean Giant has been a strong force in the Xfinity and Truck Series and he's no different in Cup. He may only have the one win at Watkins Glen and one Stage win to go with it, but 4 Top-5's, 8 Top-10's, and an average finish of 17.88 shows he's a threat for the triple crown of Fantasy racing.
#3 Beef only had one Top-5 this year, but he made it count with a win at Kansas. He's had 6 Top-10's total this year, along with 2 Stage wins, 2 Poles, and an average finish of 17.5
#4 VikesFan4Life prior to Richmond had 3 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's and was 21st in the Playoff Grid, 57 points out. A clutch win last week locked him into the playoff at the very last moment. He has 2 Stage wins and an average finish of 19.25.
#2 Minnowfur also had a clutch win but not as last minute as VikesFan4Life, as the win came one week earlier at Darlington. Minnowfur also has 4 Top-5's and 6 Top-10's with an average finish of 18.29. He is one of only 3 players to finish in the Top-20 5 times in the last 5 races.
#34 LandonFandon34 won at Michigan this year and also has a Stage win in his resume. He has 5 Top-5's and 9 Top-10's and an average finish of 18.4. Early on in the season, he had a stretch of 3 Top-10's in 4 races, a feat that has not been too common.
#9 Diesel101 has perhaps been the most quiet of the playoff contenders. He started the year with back to back runner-up finishes, both behind Victree8, and a win at Bristol. He's only had 1 other Top-5 but his average finish of 16.23 is 3rd among the players in the playoff and his 19 Top-20 finishes are 2nd only to 24over48's 20. Despite not having any Stage wins and 7 Top-10's, he very well can be a threat in this playoff.
#21 Mile501 was far luckier than Joey Logano as his win at Richmond was not encumbered! The rest of the year has been a bit of a struggle with only 2 Top-5's and 5 Top-10's but his 18.27 average finish is better than almost half of the other playoff contenders. He may be behind with only 5 playoff points, but he most certainly is not out.

This is all tentative and you are allowed to change all of the info before next season starts and you will have to confirm your registration again once we get closer to the start of the season.
The reason for this boils down to the numbers. Of course, this also helps me plan ahead for next year and see who may or may not be returning in 2018. But mainly, this is for the numbers. If you renew your registration now, you get priority choice for the number you want. If more than one person wants the same number, the player higher in the final points gets first pick. After the final race of the year, new players are allowed to start registering and numbers will then be first come, first serve. So if you want to ensure you will have your number again next year, be sure to renew your registration before then!!

Playoff Banners
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16 players have reset their points to 2000 plus all of the playoff points they have received so far in the season. The next 3 races will proceed as normal with Chicagoland, New Hampshire, and Dover on the schedule. If any of the 16 playoff contenders win, they lock themselves into the next round (if they compete in all 3 races of the round). This is why those that are not in the playoff are encouraged and expected to continue playing throughout the remainder of the season as your performance could affect how the playoff is played out. After Dover, the bottom 4 players are then eliminated from the playoff and the rest of the 12 will be reset to 3000 points and it is at this point where the playoff points throughout the season (including the playoffs) are added. Playoff points earned during the playoff are NOT added to the point totals until the reset of each round except for Homestead-Miami.
If there are any further questions to how the playoff works, I will be happy to answer them. Now it is time to introduce the 2017 Fantasy NASCAR Playoff contenders...
The 2017 Regular Season Champion, #60 Nascarnana, made her way into the playoff with a win at Auto Club Speedway. Surprisingly, though, her average finish is worst among playoff contenders, 22.0. She has 3 Stage wins, 4 Top-5's and 5 Top-10's along with 3 Poles.
#22 Fordracing7 won at Last Vegas and the Bristol night race, paving his way into the playoff. His average finish of 16.2 is 2nd among the playoff contenders. He has 4 Stage wins to his credit and 4 Top-5 finishes. He is one of only 4 players in the league with double digit Top-10's (11) and only one of 2 in this year's playoff.
#16 Victree8 deserves a lot of credit. Not only did he lead the league in wins (3, Daytona, Atlanta, and Sonoma), but he is also the one that made all of these banners. He has 3 Stage wins, 4 Top-5's and 6 Top-10's with an average finish of 18.76.
#5 Joey2448 has been the king of the Stages in 2017, winning 7 of them! His win at Kentucky put him in the playoff. He has 3 Top-5's and 8 Top-10's with an average finish of 17.28.
#94 Bob had two wins this year, Talladega and Charlotte, but he also has the honor of being the player to win that extra 3rd Stage during the 600. That Stage was just one of his 4 Stage wins this year. He has 6 Top-5's and 8 Top-10's with an average finish of 21.23.
#90 ToyYoda won at the Monster Mile to earn his playoff berth. He's won 3 Stages and has 5 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's with an average finish of 17.27. His worst finish in the last 5 races is 16th, only one player has done better in that span.
#70 Himtan Racin is the only other player besides Victree8 to at one point lead the Playoff Grid during the Regular Season. That was after his 2nd win of the year at Michigan and he held it for one week before Victree8 won at Sonoma. Hitman Racin also won earlier in the year at Texas. He has 4 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's with an average finish of 20.81.
#24 24over48 leads all playoff contenders in several categories. He leads the league with a 14.04 average finish and 13 Top-10's, that's half of the regular season. Despite all of the Top-10 efforts, he's yet to win a race and has only 4 Top-5 finishes, but does have 2 Stage wins. He's finished outside of the Top-20 only 6 times.
#18 Oldschoolracing519's path to the playoff wasn't tricky, he swept the races at Pocono. The #18 has an average finish of 18.08 with a Stage win, 3 Top-5's and 5 Top-10's.
#76 Jolly Mean Giant has been a strong force in the Xfinity and Truck Series and he's no different in Cup. He may only have the one win at Watkins Glen and one Stage win to go with it, but 4 Top-5's, 8 Top-10's, and an average finish of 17.88 shows he's a threat for the triple crown of Fantasy racing.
#3 Beef only had one Top-5 this year, but he made it count with a win at Kansas. He's had 6 Top-10's total this year, along with 2 Stage wins, 2 Poles, and an average finish of 17.5
#4 VikesFan4Life prior to Richmond had 3 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's and was 21st in the Playoff Grid, 57 points out. A clutch win last week locked him into the playoff at the very last moment. He has 2 Stage wins and an average finish of 19.25.
#2 Minnowfur also had a clutch win but not as last minute as VikesFan4Life, as the win came one week earlier at Darlington. Minnowfur also has 4 Top-5's and 6 Top-10's with an average finish of 18.29. He is one of only 3 players to finish in the Top-20 5 times in the last 5 races.
#34 LandonFandon34 won at Michigan this year and also has a Stage win in his resume. He has 5 Top-5's and 9 Top-10's and an average finish of 18.4. Early on in the season, he had a stretch of 3 Top-10's in 4 races, a feat that has not been too common.
#9 Diesel101 has perhaps been the most quiet of the playoff contenders. He started the year with back to back runner-up finishes, both behind Victree8, and a win at Bristol. He's only had 1 other Top-5 but his average finish of 16.23 is 3rd among the players in the playoff and his 19 Top-20 finishes are 2nd only to 24over48's 20. Despite not having any Stage wins and 7 Top-10's, he very well can be a threat in this playoff.
#21 Mile501 was far luckier than Joey Logano as his win at Richmond was not encumbered! The rest of the year has been a bit of a struggle with only 2 Top-5's and 5 Top-10's but his 18.27 average finish is better than almost half of the other playoff contenders. He may be behind with only 5 playoff points, but he most certainly is not out.
