Rumor that the Truck Series may be heading to Knoxville

Awesome. I remember some on here have mentioned adding Knoxville as the next dirt track, and it seems like NASCAR may be listening. It has a lot more permanent seating than Eldora, will sell out just as quickly, and I imagine attendance is more important at the Truck level than at Cup and Nationwide since their TV contract isn't as valuable.

"We are certainly looking at it," O'Donnell said of the trucks at Knoxville. "We wanted to see, obviously, how Eldora went,

"No secret that Knoxville is a premier facility in the U.S. If we could do something that's in partnership that helps elevate Knoxville and also does the same for Iowa (Speedway), we are looking at different opportunities there.

"For us, one of the key messages we want to get out is that we want racing to grow in Iowa."

Knoxville is just south of Des Moines and is an absolute gem. Because of the Nationals, the place is huge. Perfect for a NASCAR event.

This is exactly what the Truck series should be! Fill up small venues, raise ratings and give us grass roots racing. Eldora was my favorite event of the year of all classes last year.

Guess that shows you the extent of my dirt track knowledge. I was thinking it was in Knoxville, TN. My bad. I'll have to drive hella fast to get to Iowa in three hours :)

This place would be packed on both bleachers for a Truck event. Plus the best go kart track I've ever been to is just down the road and doesn't close until people stop racing.

Unfortunately, we don't have any dirt tracks with the seating capacity to host an event like that.

Pretty cool, I had thought before that Knoxville or the Dirt track at Charlotte would make a good second dirt race for the schedule.
