WHAT ABOUT THE LAST COUPLE OF LAPS?
"Well, first of all, I was real worried. When those guys pitted at like 150, and we came back and got eighth or ninth -- something like that -- I said, 'Man, it's gonna be tough getting to the front,' but our car was as strong as it was all night long right there at the end. We dropped some air pressure all the way around, dropped the track bar on it and really got it going. When I took the lead, they're counting it down and I'm looking out in front of me and I'm seeing all those lapped cars. We had like five laps to go and I see all the lapped cars and I see the 25 coming and I said, 'Damn.' I was just wishing they would get up out of the way and the guy just kept racing right in the groove. I just lost the air to the front of the car and I started pushing again like you always do. Then Gordon got up on me and the white flag was waving. We went into turn three and got a little nudge and that was it. I was trying like hell to catch him and knock the hell out of him, but I just couldn't catch him."
DO YOU BELIEVE GORDON COULD HAVE MADE A CLEAN PASS IF HE HADN'T HIT YOU?
"No, not a chance in hell. I don't think so. I don't think there was any way. We only had two laps to go. I was able to pull him pretty good, but when I saw the 25 up there, I was hoping like hell he would move up high and just let us go, but he just kept racing on the bottom. I don't know. It's just frustrating when you try to win that hard. It's been a while since I've won and I thought I had this one and then with a lap to go all hell breaks loose. But I know it's been a long time since Jeff's won."
JEFF SAID YOU SLAMMED THE DOOR AND ONCE YOU DID THAT YOU WERE FAIR GAME. WHAT DID HE MEAN BY THAT?
"Oh, I don't know. We'll talk about that later, I guess. I mean, I was in front I thought, so I don't know how in the hell I slammed the door, but that's racing. It's good, fun Bristol racing. It was a good, strong run for us. We led some laps and got some bonus points and gained some points. I know he wanted to win the thing real bad because all the fans have been on him about not winning, but, I tell you, it's been about 40 or 50 races since I've won too, so I wanted it real bad myself."
