Rusty Wallace Racing has shut down its day-to-day racing operations as it continues to look for sponsorship for it’s two car operation.

Steve Wallace and Michael Annett were expected to compete in the Nationwide Series this season, and now both are looking for rides as the organization, which opened in 2004, doesn’t plan to field cars in 2012.

The organization will keep some of its business staff in place to look for sponsorship for Wallace, son of former NASCAR champion and team owner Rusty Wallace, according to a news release.

Bummer for the N'wide series...

But at least we won't have to listen to Crusty make excuses for Steven when Steven messes up on the track!

Doesn't Michael Annett receive his Pilot sponsorship through his family?

I wonder how this will affect the sheet metal business. Prices have probably dropped like a rock since the announcement was made.

Well, I think Steven is probably ready to take the next step to cup anyway....lol

That sure is a nice shop they have there in Mooresville. I hate to see any team have to close their shop.:(

That's the sad part. Lots of folks starting 2012 with their resume (and possibly their burger-flipping spatula) in hand...:(

This leaves time for Steve to finally pursue his dream job as a crash test dummy, as for Michael Annett, he could just go back to racing ARCA with whomever that team was he was with a few years ago when he was in the #28 Camry, or maybe someone with an extra NCTS can give him a shot. Say someone like Kyle Busch or the guy who bought Harvick's truck deal.

Apparantly Rusty doesn't read this forum or he would know that there is money to be made as a start and park .

Side note: Steven Wallace posted on Twitter today that Michael Waltrip "was the man" for having a nice motorhome. Uh, Steven, uhhhh.... ALL of the NASCAR elites have nice motorhomes like that. Has he never walked the infield???

He kept bumping into things and was banned.

I think that was Bill Davis Racing so thats not an option... I'm sure he will take his Pilot sponsorship somewhere anyway
