Ryan Moore Signs Driver Development Contract With Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
Scarborough, ME (September 12, 2004) - Twenty-one year old Ryan Moore, of Scarborough, Maine, has signed a driver development contract with NASCAR powerhouse Dale Earnhardt, Inc. which will take him from the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series to the NASCAR Busch Series in 2005.

"I'm excited, and my whole family is excited," said Moore, son of 1995
Busch North Series champion Kelly Moore. "To have this finalized is a
huge deal for our family."

Negotiations began in the spring, but were only finalized just recently.

"It took a while," he explained, "there was a lot of swapping around and
stuff to make sure everything was covered to everyone's liking. We got
Teresa [Earnhardt, widow of Dale] tracked down, which is tough to do
since she has a lot of stuff going on. But we got her tracked down and
got the deal signed, and we're pretty excited about it."

The driver development program that Moore signed on to will have him
testing NASCAR Busch Series cars for DEI over the winter, and entered
into seven Busch Series races - the most he can run without jeopardizing
his Rookie Of The Year eligibility for future seasons - during the 2005
season.

"And if everything goes well, goes as planned, we'll step up to a
full-time Busch ride in 2006," Moore said.

Following in the footsteps of other young drivers entering the Busch
Series is something that Moore and his family have worked for since he
was thirteen years old.

"It has been a lot of work and a lot of sacrifices to get to this point,
but that's what you have to do to get to this step," he said. "It's
certainly a relief for the whole family, and especially my dad and my
grandfather, because everyone's put a lot of money and effort into my
racing program. Once I get settled in with the DEI team it'll be a
little easier for them.

"My dad's put a ton of work into my racing career ever since I was
thirteen years old," he said of Kelly, "and this is what we were
shooting for. That's eight years that we've been working towards getting
a deal like this. DEI has always been, in my eyes, the best organization
in auto racing and I don't think I could be in a better position than
I'm in now."

Moore, who will continue to race his No. 74 R.C. Moore Transportation
Chevrolet in Busch North for the balance of 2004 and on at least a
partial basis in 2005, can now race with a little less pressure.

"My whole family has put a lot of hard work and money trying to get my
program to the point where we could attract the attention of an
organization like DEI," he said. "Now that the deal is signed, we can
take some of the pressure off and go to the last three Busch North races
and the Showdown out in California and go have fun and try to win some
races."

So, this means that Truex goes to Nextell in 2006, with Mikey out??

i think this is just a development deal with busch, kind of like Kenny Wallace in the 00 in Nextel this year, Truex will still have his full time Busch ride and probably do a little more testing at the cup level...by the way, what had dei planned to do with paul menard? I remember they signed him to a development deal...did you know he started out racing on ice?

I think DEI is getting it's ducks in a row... Mickey out within two years with Truex and another young gun on the team.

Maybe, they're getting ready for the fallout between you know who and you know who.

but who's on first? Yeah, I agree with you there, but where do you think you know who will go? and do you think he will take his sponsor with him?

You know where you know who will go...

You know that you know who will go where his daddy went, which is driving for you know who else. You also know what number the car will have on it sooner or later. Sure, it may start out with you know who's number, but before you know what happens you know who will be using the other number, which is still owned by you know who else. That leaves we all know who out of a ride before long, and of course we are all keenly aware who will get that ride once we all know who is out of the picture.

If you followed all that, then you know what I think of the whole mess, where they can stick it, and who knows what else. :XXROFL:

If you followed that, you are probably certifiable.

During the 8/30 Victory Lane program on Speed Channel, Richie Gilmore said that DEI was close ot signing a sponsor for the #1 car for 9 races in 2005 and full time in 2006 with Martin Truex Jr doing 7 races in 2005 and full time in 2006. The other 2 races in 2005 would be the road course races with Ron Fellows.
