Ryan has been doing some sophisticated scientific burn rate analysis on driver's suits. (gotta use that degree for something) Seems his Simpson suit ain't quite up to snuff......
In an attempt to stay ahead of things, Newman has switched to a new fabric in his race clothing after testing samples with a blowtorch outside his hauler at Daytona two weeks ago.
"The brand that I switched to is made by Ringer," Newman said. "It is called CarbonX. It lasts about 120 seconds with a blow torch pointed at it. The Simpson material (Nomex) lasted about one second before a hole was burnt through. The math is pretty easy."
