I put sole blame on FOX for airing Martin Truex's crew chiefs foul langauge. Nice use of the delay option their FOX. They had better not fine him for that.

There should be no fine coming to Martin's crew chief. The blame for that being on the air rests solely with the Fox folks. They were listening in on a team's radio conversation, and the only folks that could have heard any of that would be those who have scanners at the track and IF Martin Truex's radio was on Trackpass.

i think i missed it....was it on the radio or while being interviewed?

It was the team's radio being broadcast on the television after Stewart moved him out of his way.

Fox's fault....sure hope hope nascar doesnt fine for that...i dont think they will though....but hey...its nascar..you never know with them.

after Stewart moved him out of his way.

I guess that's the polite way of saying Stewart punted his punk ace off the track. But, I agree Fox should have had their fingers on the bleeper if they were going to broadcast the transmissions...

And I think it is a common word used by most of us at one time or another and was not directed at national TV. It was what should have been a private conversation between two people and FOX should take the heat, if any!

After the Junior incident a few years ago, NBC opted for the 5-second delay. Fox was asked to do the same, but refused. Maybe the FCC will hit them with a fine and encourage them to use the delay.

I loved it myself! No im not for cussing on TV but its nice to know how the drivers and crew chief deal with the race and what kind of reaction they have during the race.

Why #1 Crew Chief not fined: FOX Sports used the same excuse for profanity creeping into Sunday's broadcast of the Nextel Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway as CBS did for Janet Jackson's breast being exposed during halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII. Equipment malfunction. "We've talked to FOX Sports and they told us there was a malfunction, that it wasn't deliberate,'' NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said Tuesday. "They told us there's some sort of system in play where there's a delay. For whatever reason, it didn't work. They assured us they're looking at ways to make sure that doesn't reoccur.'' The incident occurred when the in-car radio conversation between crew chief Kevin Manion and his driver, Martin Truex., Jr., was broadcast. Manion was caught using the same word that earned driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. a $10,000 fine and the loss of 25 points two years ago at Talladega Superspeedway. Hunter said Manion was not fined because "this was a glitch that occurred.''(NASCAR.com)(3-29-2006)

Give me a BREAK!!!! How many times must we endure this excuse?? I was under the impression FOX refused to use delays so how could it have malfunctioned?? All this is moot because no driver of crew chief should ever be fine IMO because the fault of a "malfuntion": lies soley on the Network for eavsdropping on these guys in the first place!!!

100% agree Wolfie!

the BROADCAST is live..the team radio broadcasts are not. The team radio delay malfunctioned and the word wasn't caught

Ok is it just me or is this being made more of a big deal than it really is? I say so what....he said s word on tv...big deal. You can turn the tv on and see a lot worse than that any night of the week. I think we make way too much of a big deal out of a few curse words.

Tell that to the FCC. They're the ones calling the shots on what can be said and shown on TV. Now if NASCAR ever gets their own cable and goes PPV they can do what ever they want. There could be nekkid wimmen in VC handing out BJs to the winner and the FCC can't say boo. Until then however...
