Sabates fuming over McMurray signing

Evidently this week Jack Roush and Felix Sabates met up in the garage area and Sabates didn't miss the chance to mention the deal (McMurray to Roush in '07) to Roush. Inferring that Roush signed McMurray to his young squad in order to make buying the Roush racing comapany more inticing for those interested, Roush replied; "I'm not for sale!".

Clearly Felix was stung by McMurray's decision to leave his company.

I believe that I'd be ticked as well, but such is life in the big leagues. Maybe some more serious talks to Jamie and some better equipment would have kept the kid from bolting.

Boo hoo, Felix........my heart bleeds for you!! NOT!!!! :D Maybe if you had partnered up with someone a little easier to deal with you wouldn't have drivers bolting on you!! :) Watch out for Casey Mears......I bet he's got his ear to the ground too!

I smell something rotten in this whole affair. To announce a change that far in advance is weird. Who would it really benefit?

The relationship between McMurray and the team principles must have sucked. And it certainly won't improve the remainder of this year or next.

How about the manufactures? Of course it happens, but nobody likes to see people jumping ship. Guess McMurray doesn't care. He drives a BMW.

And Roush? Was that announcement good for him or not? I don't know.

Here's what I would love to see. Jamie jump up and not only get solidly in the Chase, but once the points are reset, he kicks everyone's butt and wins at least 8 of the ten Chase races!! Creams the other teams and takes the title by 400 points!!! :D Then talk Jack into finding him a ride for 06 and walks early from Ganassi!! :beerbang:

But, y'all must remember I don't care much for Chip Ganassi!! :beerbang: :beerbang:

I agree with bump that it is kinda strange to announce this so early. All I could figure is that Jamie figured he'd be released to drive the 6 next year and that didn't happen.

The whole point of all the signing and anouncments was to gey McMurry released from his contract...wich will happen McMurry will drive the 6 on 06

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But the early public announcemet has nothing to do with it. It's the back room deals that decide how contracts are handled.

Well, suppose even a portion of that would happen, wouldn't it mean that Jamie has not been given his utmost so far?

Evidently?

There's clearly only one way to settle this...put Chip Ganassi and Jack Roush in a pit of jello, naked and see who gets out after the rumble!

That won't work either......Jack will whine that the Jell-o was set up as a disadvantage to him and his team and that it was soaked in a secret chemical.

Ganassi will just whine.

I don't know if that would mean Jamie has not been giving his utmost or not!! :) But, we all know a happy man works harder........and I would think Jamie is a happy man right now!! :D And if it is true that Jamie has not been giving his utmost and he starts giving his utmost after signing with another owner it would indicate to me that just maybe Ganassi is the the problem over in the 42, 41 and 40 shops! :D

But to be honest, I was being flip and really not at all serious. So your question is pretty much senseless to ask. There is no answer anyone could give that would be fact! The only fact I know for sure is that any driver that bails on Ganassi gets a big thumbs up from me!!!! :beerbang:

Maybe so, but I'll also bet that the line of drivers wanting a ride from him is a mile long. There are a hell of a lot more drivers ouit there than available rides.

I bet Ward Burton would jump at the opprotunity for that ride. :bounce:

All I know is Jamie has wanted out since last year when his original contract was up. Gannassi waited until the last possible minute to take the option on another year on Jamie knowing he wanted out. It appears Floyd is playing the same games this year by not talking to the drivers and letting them know what's their position for the future but letting them find out from Floyd's press conferences or other sources. To this point Chip still hasn't picked up the option of next years extention of Jamies contract, he'll wait again until the last minute to do so.
I applaud Jamie for making a statement to Chip of "You might f### with me over this years contract, but I'm out of here at the soonest possible minute" I think Jamies actions clearly make that statement.
This is the method of operation of Chip Gannassi, slezy as hell in my opinion.
Don't talk to the people involved, just keep them hanging and then the last minute don't bother talking with them, just send them a FedeX'd letter.

I bet most of these drivers don't get involved in contract talks anyway. They all have lawyers and agents and PR people who have to earn their piece of the pie.

Remember gang, the sponser has a lot to say about things. I don't know how happy Texaco/Havoline's going to be plunking down $15 mil for a driver that doesn't want to be there.

Ganassi is an open-wheel owner. He hasn't earned anything as far as I'm concerned as a stock car owner. I understand his competitive nature, but he ain't got the cha-cha for Cup yet.
Money doesn't relate to wins. I think McMurray realizes this and wants to go with a winning organization.
Felix who???

It's official, as of 7/22, Ganassi has picked up it's option to keep McMurray for the 2006 season.
They're just pissed that Roush signed him for '07 before they did.

so in other words....they arent looking towards the future for their team...no wonder Jamie wanted out.

Floyd doesn't seem to have a clue, remember how he blackballed Jimmie Spencer and didn't he also screw Scott Pruitt pretty bad also These type thing will surely come back to bite him

i agree...they are going to have a hard time getting top notch drivers in their cars....and as soon as thier young drivers contracts up....they are likely to leave.

Ganassi Racing to pick up McMurray's option: from a Q&A at USA Today: Q.) Will Chip Ganassi's team let Jamie McMurray out of his contract for next season? A:) No. Team co-owner Felix Sabates said Thursday that the team would pick up its option on McMurray's contract for next season and expected him to honor it. "There never was any question on our part," Sabates said. Sabates said McMurray would remain in the No. 42 car with sponsorship from Havoline next year. Ganassi hasn't announced its full driver lineup for next season; Casey Mears' fate is still up in the air, and the team might expand to four cars in an attempt to keep up with the Roush and Hendrick superteams. "We've talked about it, but right now we don't have anything in concrete," Sabates said.(USA Today)

Can we just say that the 2nd sylable in GanASSi's name says it all?

I'd think you'd want to get the 3 teams you have running competitive before you begin to think of adding a 4th team.Just because Hendrick & Roush have more teams than you do is a dumb reason.

yeah i dont really no what to think about McMuarry i like him now but i am not really a roush fan the only roush driver i like is gregg biffle
but the best driver that is alive right now is kevin harvick.
and my all time driver is Dale Earnhardt

Good thing you don't have to make that choice. BTW what the hell is wrong with Roger? At least he has never been suspended from NASCAR :D

I would drive for RCR, DEI, Roush, Hendricks, Everham. BDR. even Bam. Just so I would be driving a cup car. :D
