Sad News From The Truck Series

IMO I'da sent TJ packing and moved his sponsor to BEnson's truck

Unreal he won the Championship last year and now might not have a ride....too bad, I like Johnny.

Unfortunately according to an interview with Tom DeLoach, TJ Bells parents are paying for the ride.

Why can't we just get Johnny back to the Nationwide series or Cup series?
Its not like he doesn't have the skills. Maybe we'll get him to get a face life, hair weave and a personal trainer so he could get a sponsor.:sarcasm:

Almost same deal happand the year ted musgrave won the championship. But they closed right after the season was over.

Racing in the top series (all three of them) is a funny deal these days. Johnny Benson is one of those guys that falls from grace with dignity. I remember when Johnny said that he has won at every level he has plied his trade, but when he got to the Cup series, it was like he went one level too high. Many have done this and when they fall, it's hard. Didn't Johnny have a chance to resign with the team he won with last year? Seems as though I remember that, but he wanted to make some changes. Correct me if I'm wrong there, but that seems to be the case.

Jack Roush has had three drivers that just didn't seem to be Cup drivers, Ted Musgrave, Derek Cope and Johnny Benson. Musgrave was in the #16 and that car has proven to be very competitive with the Biff. Cope and Benson were in cars that are now the #17 and #26. Matt Kenseth was Roush's first champ, to the chagrin of Mark Martin, and the #26 car was the former #97, which was driven by Kurt Busch and was the second champ, again to more chagrin of Marky.

I don't know why Benson is having such troubles with a sponsor, but could it be that today the sport is moving towards the younger crowd? Johnny has a great smile and is a good driver, but that just might not be enough. I'm hoping that he will find another ride and I'd love to see him in something competitive in either the Nationwide series or the Cup series.

Well he might have had that chance but since Bill Davis racing shut down he might have been looking for a new ride anyway.

FYI, Chad Little was in the 97.

Johnny is a great guy. It baffles me to how the sport turns. Like Musgrave and Benson, Dennis Setzer had success in the trucks, then his team unfolds. Great veterans short tracker, I was very estatic when he had those great years in the trucks. Then it all unravelled, and now he is with a second class time. He did finish second recently, but still the truck series is like the Floirda Marlins, Once on top of the world, then left sponsorless.

That's right. Still, Chad did his best to continue and didn't fare any better than Derek and worse than Johnny.

Funny to see Chad's name here. When my son was actually sort of interested in NASCAR and either a not quite teen or young teen, his favorite driver was Chad Little. Everyone once in a while when hubby and I are watching a race or some kind of racing program, he'll say something about Chad. Had to tell him his old fav. is no longer driving. He was working on developing the series in Mexico, although I'm not sure if he still is. I was really surprised seeing his eclectic background. He's also a lawyer.

When Chad Little was in the 97 he did more for the American farmer then anyone in history. Why? Because he left John Deere parts all over tracks, all over the country.
