Well, Sam Hornish will be driving the #77 Dodge car for Penske in NASCAR next year. His sponsor is Mobil 1.
They should be making the announcement this Saturday.

Penske will most likely transfer points from Busch and give them to Hornish. This will allow Hornish a guaranteed start in the first 5 races.

Transfer points.....What a crock. Than means Kurt is not gauranteed a spot. Thats just wrong

well dont forget...Nascar is going to look at the top 35 rule during the off season.....hopefully it'll be changed and we wont see this crap anymore.

i was going to say, assuming he makes the field.....

Kurt is a past champion. He's guaranteed at least 6 starts.

Is that a fact though. Doesn;t that also depend on if another past champion needs one like Jarrett or someone else then isn't it done in order of championships or something like that?

If more than one past champion does not make the field through qualifying, the driver that won the most recent championship gets the provisional.

I still find it hard to believe he hasnt qualified for a Cup event yet..

He was 10th or 11th fastest at Talladega and still had to go home because the top 7 were other cars not locked in.

for the non RP tracks he's been in the 20's and 30's and gone home even though he was faster than some of the cars that made the race.

Yes this is true I can't believe everyone doesn't already know this. Kurt always qualifies anyways. I don't know why everyone wants to give Hornish a hard time. If it was just everyone go out and qualify I could understand but they use the top 35 so what's the big deal?

The top 35 may be locked in but it still leaves 8 positions open. Evidently there have been 8 drivers each time that have been better than Hornish.

but he's still been faster than those who went home.

Also, with junior going to the 88, who wants to be that hendrick takes the 48's owner's points and points them at the 88?

The 88 is taking the 25's owner points from what I hear.

Besides we all know that Lil'E is the bestest driver ever to grace a track. He don't need no stinking points from anybody. Next year with Hendricks equipment instead of Truex's hand me downs look for him to dominate. He'll make Jimmie's accomplishments this year look like a Kenny Wallace season.

Well, the writers are on strike and someone has to be willing to write the comedy skits...

Latly Jr has been driving like Cole Trickle. "Now Cole, When the tach reads 10,000 RPMS thats bad...." I wounder if one of the crew members looked at the side of the car after todays race "well lookie here, a side we dont got to fix!" :D

Sorry JR fans, i could not help myself :p

Bwahahahahahaha :XXROFL:

hmm, oughta be good to see if mears and make the races next year then. The 25 car seems to always be the lame duck of the group. He coulda always just give junior the 5 points couldn't he? It's gonan be from the same shop as the 5 was isnt it?

mears will be getting the #5 points and as of right now that's 4th place, seems like he'll be in pretty good shape

Don't know if anyone listens to Sirius or not, but Dave Moody seems to staunchly defend just about everything that goes on. He's really big on saying how good these guys are, how Hornish has won an Indy 500 and 3 IRL titles, etc., and that he, along with any other highly talented driver (his words) should get a chance to race.

But that's the problem that most people have. Hornish has been given a chance. He's 1 for 7 attempting to even qualify a car, and when he did finally make a Cup race, he could do no better than 30th. And out of 8 Busch races this year, his average finish was 30th.

I don't really have a problem with the open wheel "invasion," but how long do they need to perform? What bugs me most about the influx of open wheel drivers is the exodus of the from the IRL. I happen to like the IRL, and many of the drivers there, but with so many leaving, the serires is gonna be hurting before long.

I have a problem with the open wheel invasion. They have like 6 fans and their series are in the sewer...so now the greedy ones want to come over where the money is. Nope...don't like it.

I would agree if he couldn't qualify. But we all know he can. He'll be in the show and Penske pays alot believe that.

nope

Jv and Montoya don't need the money. Jv made 90 million in 97 in F-1 and Montoya has the bucks too. Darios rich. So Carpentier and Hornish may like the money but that's only some of the reason not "the" reason. Anyways there's alot more old school open wheelers in Nascar taking the money and have been for years! Alot of those boys wanted rides in Nascar to no avail. Nascar wasn't the popular when seeking out Indycar rides, now that it is what's the problem with them coming over? If they knock out the semi-retired drivers so be it. Isn't it about the best of the best?

Ok, Im glad you corrected this statement..;)

I didnt want Dario to move to NASCAR but I know he will do well. He can race anything. He is one heck of a driver. I will be pulling for him in every NASCAR race next year.

Oh, and indycar is on the upswing. Its a great series with a variety of courses.

Doesn't mean a hill-of-beans what the O.W. stars did in other types of racing. What they do in Nascar is what counts in the points.

Busch Homestead race:

38th - Hornish
39th - Franchitti
42nd - Carpentier

Craftsman Truck Homestead race:

42nd - JV

I think that Montoya has the best chance of adapting to Nascar than any of the other newbies.

Negative, you wait and see what damage Dario Franchitti will do. I think he will suprisingly well.
