Last November, Sam Hornish promised he wasn’t going to settle for any ride just to be able to “say I’m a race-car driver."

Thanks to Joe Gibbs Racing, Hornish won’t have to.

Sources tell FOXSports.com that the three-time IndyCar Champ and Indianapolis 500 winner will share seat time with Kyle Busch in the No. 54 Toyota in the Nationwide Series this season.

Well, he gets to spend a bunch more time with his family while also driving the best car in the garage. I'd call that a win-win.

That's a better ride than I expected he'd get, the question is how many races does he get?

Will this put him closer to getting another shot in Cup or is this the beginning of the end for his career?

Never thought I would be cheering for Hornish

go sammy go

It looks like JGR has a little more faith in his driving skills then some fans has had in the past.:)

@dcaraviello

Hornish's races for JRM: May 3 at Talladega, both at Iowa, Road America, Chicagoland on July 19, Mid-Ohio, and Kentucky on Sept. 20.

Brilliant decision I believe. I would much rather drive the best car in the garage on a limited basis than drive a mid pack car full time, or any other ride that would of been a step down from the car he drove last season.
does that imply he came from a mid pack car

It says Hornish will run at least 7 races out of 36. That isn't very many, and Kyle is showing that he is running 26 Nationwide races on his web site, same as last year.

ugh, that isnt what I was hoping for. Oh well, when Sam shows up the other non-cup JGR talent he will have a full time ride in 2015. Probably in the 11.

worked pretty good for Kurt ya gotta admit. I was wondering with only 7 races under contract, Sam might be open to more racing with other teams. Even a slow Cup ride and a decent top 20 finish is better than nothing and a personal challenge to get faster, unless you are trying to retire or something.

Nah, kybu will put a governor on it when Sam is driving, he wouldn't want Sam to show him up.

Even Otis thinks thats ridiculous and his daddy dont like Kyle Busch

You dont like babies ???
You change a lot of chitty diapers when you have 3- kids, 9- grand kids and 7 2/3 great grand kids, just kiddin, I love all 19 2/3 of'em and 11 of'ems spouses.

I have done my share of them diapers but what in the hell is a 2/3 great grand kid :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Sam was already getting close in Penske's car, no slouch among racing teams. Now he's gonna get kybu all over himself.

A woman could tell ya, my grand daughter is in her third trimester.

Thats what i figured but just had to ask. I only have one grand baby and she wears me out, I have no idea how you handle all them little ones

The "non-cup JGR drivers" are mighty shy on talent, Sammy has got it made

I am guessing he is the new test driver for JGR. He did the same thing for Penske. He will run his limited number of NNS races, test, and then possibly jump in a cup seat hear and there. Probably the 81.

Except the car he drove was the same as the one that won the owners points championship over the 54 ... with 4 different winning drivers... Sam just aint got it.. it's gona be like when they put Drew Herring in the 54 but Sam might get more top 5's lol.

.. Sam might get a win or two but I don't see him being anything like Kyle in that car... 2 wins max and Sam takes that car out of the owners championship at some point..

Different crew chiefs, different setups. Sam wasn't running the #22.

2 out of 7 isn't even close to bad...and he should win at least Road America and Mid-Ohio.
