IRL IndyCar Series standout Sarah Fisher rubbed elbows with five-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and retired four-time F1 champion Alain Prost, as she received an award Jan. 28 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris as the “Discovery of the Year.”
Fisher received the trophy from Prost during the annual awards dinner for the Festival D’Automobile. Schumacher and Ferrari team principal Jean Todt attended to receive the “Palm D’Or” Award for their remarkable achievements during the 2002 F1 season, which culminated with Schumacher’s third consecutive F1 driver’s title and Ferrari’s fourth consecutive constructor’s title.
Two-time IRL IndyCar Series Most Popular Driver Fisher traveled to the event on behalf of her personal sponsor, TAG Heuer.
“It was a rare and exciting privilege for me to receive the award at the Festival in Paris and especially to be able to meet and talk with legendary drivers Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher,” Fisher said. “They were very kind to me and knew a lot about the IRL IndyCar Series. It was an experience I’ll never forget!”
