Satellite vs. Cable is getting down and dirty

I just hate TWC dropped HDNet and HDMovies. And TWC is still fighting MASN on where to put them tho the courts ruled they have to go on the Standard tier. I wish I could get satellite but all the trees around me say no.

In the end, when all is said a done, the viewers will be the ones getting the shaft.

Especially those who do not have any choice where they get the TV signal.

Oh I have a choice. I could choose AT&T UVerse. And if it were offered by someone other than AT&T I would change in a moment.

I have Cox Cable, every year the rates go up, every year they drop a channel I like to watch, every year I get another shopping channel and another Spanish speaking one. Several years ago they moved Speed to the upper tier so to watch races I was forced to spend another 20-30 bucks. I've got a choice of 2 or 3 satellite providers but I'm not going back to dial up and getting the internet off the dish is boocou bucks.
Fios is availible to me, several friends have it and like it. $99 a month for 2 years includes TV, phone and innertube 15 mg up, 5 download. I called Cox and they dropped their price to match the 99 but I still pay 40 some bucks for my landline.
Only thing stopping me from making the switch is a new email addy and the hassle involved in changing over. But I am quickly reaching my limit with the CS of Cox.

I think everyone has a problem with their providers. But we are given more and more choices all the time. Oh sure, we have reached a point where many people don't believe we have choices, but believe me, we do have choices. Problem is, do we want to pay for any of those choices. SST, you learned something that everyone should take advantage of and that is to not just complain to their provider, but to negotiate with them or tell them you will change. Just because the rate is published doesn't mean they can't or won't give you a break. And it won't hurt to give it a try. All they can do is keep you where you already are. I have learned that negotiating is something that we all should do in everything that we purchase. Outside this country that is the norm, but here, we just bow our heads and either dish it out or go without.

i use to think that way. the switch to gmail was actually quite painless. did lose the spam emails but i survived. <g> also email won't be factor if i decide to switch providers in the future.

That is exactly why I use Hotmail as my main e-maill address. Then if something happens and you need to change services you still have your same address.

It's great having all e mail right on the I Google start page along with Google voice and favs

If you'll add a few more toolbars, like Yahoo and the like, you won't be bothered by that nasty old internet screen... ;)
