Scalping Tix

Has anybody on here had any luck scalping tickets outside of the Daytona 500 on the day of the race. A co-worker of mine does this every year and says he always ends up with tickets at about 50% of face value. Any info would be appreciated.

Most Red States like Florida and Virginia have laws stating that scalpers cannot sell tickets for more than face value. I've heard tickets outside DIS are going to be outrageously cheap even for frontstretch ($30 for backstretch, $50-$80 for frontstretch) but don't know for sure. I'll find out what they are when I get down there.

I've got a friend who has gone to many races and bought tickets from scalpers for way less than face value. Once the race starts, or close to the beginning, the price will go down. How much will depend on the race and how long it's been running. Good luck.

I was reading that they still had about 40,000 tickets unsold for the race so I'd imagine getting tix out front will not be that big of an ordeal.

Any hotel on Atlantic will have a list of tickets on a easel in the lobby.
Race, seat location and number, number of tickets, price and how to contact.

Some good deals sure but I've never seen "good" tickets go for 50% off face value. YMMV

EDIT but then again in this econmy who really knows what this year will bring. I know 3 guys who get their tickets way in advance who won't be making the trip.

So do a lot of blue states, Andy. Others have restrictions as to how far outside the venue you must be to sell tickets. There's all kinds of warnings about scalping tickets outside The Glen which will lead to arrest. There's also warnings on tickets for not selling them for over the amount purchased. It doesn't mean it doesn't happen!

Ummm.... did it ever occur to you that perhaps "house1" (hey welcome!) wanted to know BEFORE going down there themself? There are others who would like to attend the 500 who don't have tickets yet, Andy.

I have never gone to Daytona with tickets in hand. I always buy from a scalper. The last time we went a scalper had given me a card and after a couple of phone calls to him he brought the tickets to the motel to us. Charged $25 over ticket price but we didn't have to get out and find them. I still have his card somewhere. I will look for it if you are interested. That was a few years ago so I don't know if he still does it or not.

Yes it did.

I'm going down for the ARCA race and will be there well over 24 hours before the Shootout.
