Scrab man,Did Martin get extra bonus money for taking the lead from Marlin?I thought he did but did not see anything about it,which is not uncommon when it comes to media coverage of Mark.

The bonus money is paid ONLY if you WIN the race, not just by taking over the top spot in the standings. If the winner of the race this weekend is also the points leader, he will receive an EXTRA $230,000! That is the most the pot has ever been.

Driver has to be in the lead in points AND win the race to claim that bonus.

lizzycat is partly right. Any one of the top 5 drivers could "possibly" take that money. "IF" they take over the points lead from Mark Martin AND win the race too.
And with the small points spread between the 5, it could very possibly happen. Mark does only have a 9 point lead.

Exactly...they must win the race and be in the points lead at the end of that race so if Jimmy Johnson were to win he could claim it all.......

If Mark Martin WINS at Dover, he will take home the money. BUT he HAS to win. But, like I said, if any of the other top 5 win the race AND take over the points lead they will win the $$$. That has been the talk with the race commentators for the last several weeks. That and the fact that the pot is the highest in the history of Nascar.
