As in, he doesn't want to get out, or they can't get him out?:beerbang:

Doesn't what to get out. He said that stock car is awesome. He said he was smiling the whole time.

Thats awesome, the kid is a real talent. What kind of laps was he turning?

And.......how did Tony fare?

His time was faster than Tony in the stock car, Tony's times were better than Hamiton's in the F1 car. They want to put on slicks and do it again, they were running on rain tires because the track was wet when they 1st started.

I wonder what kind of career Tony would've had if he had stayed in indy cars.

Tony would have eventually came to NASCAR anyway. Once things hit rock bottom in open wheels 5-6 years ago, he would have switched anyway but probably wouldn't have gotten a ride near the quality of JGR.

Tony drives for JGR? :D

Here are some videos of today's swap. Hopefully SPEED won't remove the content anytime soon from this youtube account.

Lol. Tony said he would "be honored to have Lewis as a teammate".

now THAT looked fun!

Maybe Tony should invite the F1 guys for the Prelude next year?

Remember in '03 when Gordon and Montoya swapped cars? Jeffy was within one second of Montoya's lap times. I think NASCAR Cup drivers are the best in the world.

and now montoya is in cup. could hamilton be thinking about joining him? he doesn't seem real happy with f1.

Yeah that was at Indy, right? Gordy was within a second, on a road course he'd previously never ran before.

On the other hand, Tony had a rough idea of the brake zones on most of the course at the Glen. (Not sure if he's ever ran on that other mile or so there.)
Then again, there probably isn't much lifting, in the F1 car, where he'd normally breathe the throttle in a cup car.

Not sure if Hamilton has ever ran the Glen before, and his times were right there ,and a touch better than Stewarts.

We've definately got a few drivers that would do well on either side of the pond, in the right equipment.

From what I've read/heard, Tony has never driven that extra mile and used a couple of laps to learn the curve. I'm a bit surprised that Hamilton did so well in a heavy full bodied car. I've always wondered why the open wheeled guys from USAC (at that time) wanted to show the NASCAR guys how good their were when NASCAR first came to Indy. Only in the early days has a USAC driver crossed over to NASCAR and done well. Andretti and Foyt are a couple of very famous drivers who have won in both sanctioning bodies. Probably are more, but other than JPM, there just hasn't been much of a success. Yes, some have shown promise, especially in the lower rank, but when they jumped up to a Cup car, the competition has been overwhelming. We have watched a terrific IRL driver in Franchitti humbled enough to go back to the IRL with his tail between his legs. Driving one of those cars on a course with no one else out there seems to be totally different than driving one in a race. BTW, I'd love to see Hamilton give Cup cars a try for at least a full season.

that was cool, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton give stock cars a try. The guy seems to have talent, no matter what he drives. He would have to learn slowly in real race traffic, I think he could do well. Hell, give him a shot, at worst he would go back to F1 like Franchitti

uhh, dario is in the irl after losing his ride in nascar because of lack of sponsorship, not talent. he didn't run enough races to know how well he could have adjusted. <g>

I wonder if after this if any F1 teams would think to give Tony a F1 ride? Tony certainly would bring a lot of fans to F1.
