Well what do you know. The government has been lying to all of us all along. And they knew it. Who would have thunk it...

Scientific Evidence Shows Secondhand Smoke Is No Danger

Federal Judge William Osteen vacated the EPA study, declaring it null and void. He found a culture of arrogance, deception, and cover-up at the agency.

I heard about that yesterday, but you know, there will be those who poopoo this report, or say that it's not true, or say that it's been compremised or something. But the harm for tobacco companies has already been done and that isn't going to change. It, second hand and first hand smoke, is no longer just a health question, it's a political and societal problem.

Funny that should come up... There are several of our steel/carbon foundries that have gone to a no smoking policy. They say it is harmfull to those around, as well as them complaining...OMFG!!!! They work in a dang steel mill!!!! Carbon, gas, and other hazardous vapors get in their lungs EVERYDAY, and a dang cancer stick is gonna do any worse??? GEEZZZZ

Regardless, it just plain STINKS!!!

There you go, there's more people complaining that aren't. Regardless of how this started, it's over and the complainers won.

BTW, fyi, I'm a non-smoker and have been for nearly 13 years now, and that was only a short rebirth of the habit (six months) from 1986. I don't like to be in a smoke filled room, but if the majority of those people in the room are smokers, I don't have a right to tell them all to put it out. Yeah, I know, there are plenty of people who say that I do have that right, but show me where that "right" is written.

Oh, so some no-name doctor from West Virginia says SHS isn't harmful. PHEW! Glad we settled that debate.

I sure hope Dr. Arnett tells these guys:

The link between passive smoking and health risks is accepted by every major medical and scientific organization, including:

* The World Health Organization[85]
* The U.S. National Institutes of Health[86]
* The Centers for Disease Control[87]
* The United States Surgeon General[88]
* The U.S. National Cancer Institute[89]
* The United States Environmental Protection Agency[90]
* The California Environmental Protection Agency[3]
* The American Heart Association,[91] American Lung Association,[92] and American Cancer Society[93]
* The American Medical Association[94]
* The American Academy of Pediatrics[95]
* The Australian National Health and Medical Research Council[96]
* The United Kingdom Scientific Committee on Tobacco and Health[97]
* The governments of 151 nations have signed and ratified the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which states that "Parties recognize that scientific evidence has unequivocally established that exposure to tobacco smoke causes death, disease and disability."

The rest of the site isn't much better... FICTION writer Michael Crichton is now an expert on global warming! HA!

Show me some evidence that doesn't make me laugh first!

Funny you should bring that up. I am a smoker but I campaigned to get rid of the smoking rooms in our building. I don't smoke at work and I do find the smell in these rooms to be bad. But I do smoke at home. Mostly a pipe. Tho I do have some nice cigars I occasionally light up. Now I have never ever smoked cigarettes. They have absolutely no taste, no longevity and don't put me in a tranquil mood like a pipe does. Also, I like to flavor my own.

Now my wife smokes cigarettes...that I roll for her. She used to buy but when the prices went up we changed. She readily admits that the ones I roll for her taste better and last a lot longer. I pack them a lot heavier than store bought. Oh and the price is about 40 cents a pack.

It's funny to me that you will take for granted as an expert a former vice president in his studies. I guess as long as what is stated as fact comes from someone you like, or agree with, then that is a credible source.

Forget Crichton and Al Gore, do some research on Dr. Roy Spencer and though I know what you will say, he isn't a fiction writer or a former vice president.

I used to smoke, too, but I haven't had one in about 12 years. Now, for some reason, I can't stand the smell of them. It's especially unpleasant when I'm eating. I'm glad they don't allow smoking in restaurants or outdoor patios. I can see now how my smoking may have bothered others in the past.

Been 2 years for me but I can't stand the smell of them either. I have apologized to most of my friends for forcing that on them. Especially the ones who didn't smoke and allowed me to smoke in their cars.
