Second Thoughts On Logano At Gibbs?

They were hinting during today's Nationwide telecast that the plans to run Logano full time in the #20 'Cup ride were on hold, then said that the Gibbs people were dismissing it a as a rumor and are sticking with their plans. Sometimes these "rumors" have a way of turning into fact!

I really don't think Joey is ready for the big jump. If they do that to him it could ruin his career.

He's definitely not ready yet and it would be a major disservice to start him before he has the experience to do well. Give him some time in Nationwide. It's not like he's getting old fast or anything. LOL :)

Hmmm, some of you might not have been around when the Golden Boy went from Busch to Cup. There was a big clamor over whether or not Jeff Gordon was ready for the big time. It was bad enough that Chevy took him from Ford, but he just simply wasn't ready for a seat in the big time.

One thing I've learned from all the years I've been watching this sport is that there is a huge difference between racing in the lower circuits and racing a Cup car. I've seen guys who didn't do squat in a Busch car or not much success, move up to a Cup car and do wonders. Anyone remember how well Jimmie Johnson did in the Busch series? Then I've seen Busch Champs fail to succeed in the Cup series.

I don't know much about Joey Lagano, but I do know that he has talent. The sooner he starts in the top series, the sooner it will be that he learns the ins and outs and will win. Gone are the days of having to earn a good ride and yes, these days drivers have to show something right away or they will fade into the sunset. But unlike what faced Casey Atwood, Lagano will be in a much better car.

Got my bushes mixed up.:p
So Kurt would leave Penske to join his fellow shrub at Gibbs? Interesting.

Kurt and Ryan both need to leave Penske.

Penske needs to do something with his Cup teams or get out. If he would put 3/4ths the effort that he does in IRL they wouldn't look so little league every other week. I'm glad Newman is leaving them.

Anyway, Logano could do fine as long as they don't expect too much the first season or so.

The above could be said for a lot of cup teams. How about Petty......YOU KNOW they have the money to do what they want, they just won't or don't want to.

After Rusty left the team it headed straight down the tubes.

I was there when the golden boy moved up. I didn't question that as much as I did moving Ward Burton up when they did. Bill Davis took him to replace Gordon. I don't know about Lagano though. I think a season in Nationwide might help.

I agree. Gibbs screwed him by fielding the Cup drivers in Busch and not letting him run more races at the bigger tracks. Logano needs a full-time Busch season.

Gibbs, put Allmendinger in the 20 car next year!:D
