been opened!!

Listening to the pre-race show, seems Jr. has opened another can of worms. Wonder if his competitors are loving him right now? Another thing to worry about getting thru for them. The doctor is sure going to be busy. I'd question head injuries in almost any accident they have out there.

Another thing! Has anyone noticed how they have Kansas set up for the fans to get close to their drivers? I think that's a great idea. Now, if the drivers would co-operate and go over there it'd probably work great.

Awright!! Now we have another hot topic to discuss this week!:) All the DEI haters on one side and the lovers on the other.;) TS1 where are you?:D

The long and short of it is that now all drivers are going to be evaluated by the on track doctors and his word is the last word as to whether they are able to drive following an accident with possible head injury. Not sure if they said they were going to implement scan or not but it's going to be more intense check ups and not just the drivers word for it that he's doing ok. Not a bad thought actually. Just thinking Jr. probably wishes now he'd never said anything anyway. Mike Helton said "yes, he's very disappointed in Jr. and the way he handled the situation". Jr says he didn't feel he'd endangered any other drivers while driving and that it'd take a little bit to get the trust back of Helton and Nascar. He did say "on my worst day I'm a better driver than 80% of them out there anyway". Then he added, "just kidding". I understand that other series implemented ct scans and the announcers were wondering why Nascar was so far behind. Good question.

Thanks adjfan and PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I can't help but agree that ct scans and doctors should be much more involved in deciding when a driver can race again.
If it were just left up to many of the drivers, they would just jump back into that same wrecked car after being released from the infield care center as soon as it was driveable.

:hyper: Hay I think it is a good idea to have Doctors involed. Put your self in the others drivers place.Would you like running at 185 beside some one that has cobweb in his head.

"on my worst day I'm a better driver than 80% of them out there anyway" He said that? Ahhhhhahahahahahaha! He really did bump his head good. I can't believe he said that. That's too funny.:xxrotf:

I think what he meant to say was the on his best day that 80% of the drivers out there are better than him. That must have been one bad concussion that he had.

i still cant believe he said that then he was like i was jsut playing, he sounded very errogent and ****y there

Seriously, this isn't meant as a bash...but sometimes I don't think that Jr really knows what he's saying.

In interviews he seems to have a hard time saying what's on his mind and kinda just strings a bunch of strange sentences together.

Paul, you know, once again you're right. I hadn't thought about that until reading your post and then thinking of what it is about JR in interviews that doesn't seem right. Guess with his popularity and all I think he should be a little more polished when he makes a statement. He was actually funny in that interview cause it's almost like he realized what he'd said (or how it sounded) and tried to make it right. Can't hold a little arrogance against the kid, he is pretty dang good out there.

Go TONY!! LOL

I'm willing to bet at least -- oh, $20 -- that Dale Jr. was absolutley just joking and meant to say exactly what he said. What's the big deal anyway? That he didn't try to kiss Mike Helton's butt by pretending to be really ashamed of what he did? He's obviously not. Take issue with that if you must, be at least give the guy credit for being honest (yes, now) and having a sense of humor.

:)

I wasn't talking about that. He just comes off, sometimes as, well...uneducated.

He's not particularly well educated. So what? He speaks no less coherently than Dale Sr. did, and that didn't seem to get in his way.

I think, maybe, you mistake his thick drawl and inherent shyness for stupidity?

Sorry, but his southern accent isn't that thick.

Please do try to relax, I'm not bashing you or attacking you by telling you what he appears to me on the outside.

I don't find Sterling Marlin or Ward Burton "stupid" so your accusation is pretty rude.

Paul, please chill out! I am not at all unrelaxed. I posed that more as a question, anyway, not an accusation. I've heard you say that stuff about Junior before, and I just...don't see it. Yes, he garbles his words a lot. No, he almost never has a polished, fully coherent answer to questions he's posed. But that doesn't make him "stupid". He's not supposed to be stupid at all, from what I've read. I just have no way of proving that.

Anyhow, I DO think he has a major accent. It's different from Sterling's and Ward's, but it's an accent nonetheless -- one I happen to enjoy, btw. At least, I perceive it as such. Given that, I naturally assumed you did too. But please don't take offense to what I said. It was definitely not intended to be malicious or defensive in the least. :)

For one, I never said he was stupid. You brought stupidity into it.

I said he comes off, to me, as a little uneducated or confused when he speaks by the way he strings unrelated sentences together and contradicts himself immediatly after saying something. Is that ok with you?

As you well know, you can say or feel however you wish. :)

I consider myself an intelligent person with an extremely low tolerance for stupidity. I don't perceive Dale Jr. as any less educated or confused than most anyone out there. I guess that made me question why you would feel that way.

Not an argument, simply a different way of seeing things...

Oh, the whole "You just think he's stupid because he has a southern accent" thing kinda made it seem like you were arguing.

Silly me!

Not to split hairs, but...

"I think, maybe, you mistake his thick drawl and inherent shyness for stupidity?"

AND

"You just think he's stupid because he has a southern accent"

are two completely different things.

One is a timidly worded question. The other is an obnoxious accusation. My word skills apparently need some sharpening.

One is a thinly veiled accusation and the other is a paraphrase of said accusation.

Maybe tonight's not the night to play...

I have no desire to argue with you.
