September 10, 1989: Rusty Wallace wins his sixth and final race of his championship season, beating Dale Earnhardt to the line by 7.41 seconds. The two dominate the race – Wallace leads 211 laps and Earnhardt 135 of the Miller High Life 400 at Richmond International Raceway. It is the 22nd of 29 races in 1989, and Wallace goes on to finish the season with 4,176 points, 12 more than Earnhardt, to claim his only Cup championship.
