September 6, 2003: The Chevy Rock and Roll 400 at Richmond has a rockin’ and rollin’ ending on pit road when Kevin Harvick pulls his car next to Ricky Rudd’s, exchanges words with him and walks across Rudd’s hood. Harvick is irate that Rudd makes contact with him after a late restart (Rudd says it was accidental), and both crews enmesh in the firestorm. No fight breaks out, but each driver gets off some good lines on national TV. Harvick: “Ricky Rudd took a (bleep) cheap shot at us. If he’s gonna take a cheap shot, he’s gonna get one back. I promise you that.” When asked what Harvick said to him after the race, Rudd replies: “I couldn’t hear him. You know he has that little yap-yap mouth. I couldn’t tell what he was saying.” By the way, Ryan Newman is your race winner.
