Not trying to "Stir the pot" or anything. If you're one of the folks that think his win today was great and there was nothing wrong with it then don't bother responding, because reason and logic will not change your outlook.

I personally think the race today was BS, and the non call for Jr was total BS too. It was blatant favortism...NASCAR isn't going to go and piss off 150,000 people so they just held their breath and let him break the rules. They stand to get more press and exposure with another Earnhardt setting records so it's in their best interest to do what they did today again and again.

When is this going to end?

We saw what happened to Rusty Wallace when he tried speaking up about this crap a month or so ago but I think that other drivers need to speak up too. And I really wouldn't be surprised if a few of the "undesirables" speak out.

alright paul, were goin down to the NASCAR HQ tomarow and were taking over.

It will do them no good Paul, some may try but I am certain to no avail. You said it all with the likelihood of bad press versus the good press of the godlike Jr. breaking another record. I say to the competition to just make sure they keep some good notes so they can throw that newly made up rule back at Nascar the next time they need it. Nascar has to know they messed up today...but they wont admit it....April Fools has come and gone.

well I'm gonna respond anyways..i think they made the right call today and i also think they have made the wrong call several times with this rule...i wish they woulda made the right calls when it was Sterling, Tony and kenny and a few others...then today wouldn't be an issue, but then if it wasn't an earnhardt, it wouldn't be any fun for some......i don't think anyone has blatantly gone below the yellow to pass, i think they have outta necessity to avoid causing wrecks...maybe, just maybe nascar has finally made a right call and will follow up with more...i mean, come..they admitted to a mistake last week and no one ever thought that would happen....

and i also think they should drop the rule..

and believe it or not, i'd feel the same no matter what driver it coulda happened to today.. :p

Amen paul.

Its a Jr show now.

And god forbid anyone speaks up about it 66...if they do they're just "picking on Jr" or "making up conspiracies".

please let it be known that i am a jr fan (and other drivers) and I do not fall into this group..i'm glad y'all have your opinions and speak up even when its about/against my drivers... :D

Or just using their BRAIN! Everybody saw him go under the yellow line. If you didn't, you're a moron. Something like that happened to Stewart a while back. I know Stewart isn't as good as driver as Jr is ( ), but NASCAR needs to show a little consistency.

At first I agreed with you all.
He was below the line.
Then I rewound the tape & watched it slowly.
Look at Jr's car jump to the left as the 38 made contact.
Then look at Kenseth saw his wheel to the left to block.

Fact is that in the past- when cars were forced down- NASCAR was wrong. Maybe they are trying to clean up their rulings. When you are bumped, Or forced- it shouldn't count.

It's really just sad :(

As soon as Nascar became just another fortune 500 corporation, this was bound to occur. As Dad used to say:'Anytime ya got that @#$%$ much money involved, somethins' gonna be crooked.'

I know the alternatives to the sanctioning body are few.I also know that Nascar has it's very vocal supporters. And I live in reality enough to know that revenue is important.

But it's out of control now.The sanctioning body has jumped full throttle into the 'entertainment-at-any-cost" business. In fact what bothers me personally the most is this:Some real fans have stuck with these people from early on---from way back before Nascar was America's hottest sport. We buy the products of our favorite drivers, attend the races, buy the Nascar merchandise. All because we love seeing a real battle of men strapped into machines and pushing the limits of competition.Real competition....where the best man/machine wins.Where the outcome isn't 'encouraged' by a revenue hungry sanctioning machine.

And frankly,I just dont think we paying and supporting fans are getting that anymore. To any doubters,I would say just look.Open your eyes.If you cant see the 'hollywoodization' of this sport something is very wrong. The sport as it used to be is rapidly becoming a thing of the past.Turning into a cross breed between the wwf and american idol.Notice those little mtv-inspired intro's before every commercial? All the young and handsome being flaunted and paraded for the ever ready 'budcat' fan out there? The new fan with two or three years invested in the sport?

The handwriting is on the wall.Today's 'race' had half the field wiped out by lap 5.Had a sanctioning body that saw 'debris' just seconds before a certain driver was lapped.Had a blatant rule violation that had been plainly spoken of violated on national television. And has an idiot old pawn as an announcer.

So,if Mr.Helton thinks the average hard working to attend the races fan is going to put up with this indefinately,he may be in for a surprise.I know Jr. has fans...and I know those fans will support any ruling that reflects on their hero. But I would expect even them to eventually tire of this charade.C'mon folks.Busch and Stewart and Harvick are fined if they spit on the racetrack. It would have taken something that Nascar is missing to have made the RIGHT call today.

Integrity.

Incredibly well put 97. But unfortunately you realize we're just the minority right? That the views we're speaking are looked at as "crazy" and "unfounded". :(

I know :( With the label of malcontent,conspiracy theorist,anti-Christ,etc.

Just incredible how this has happened isn't it?So obvious as to be apparent to a three year old....and yet the defenders are foaming at the mouth, man.

Incredible. :( It sux being the 'crazy minority!'

hooty, you're definately one of the smarter ones. :) Even though you've got it all backwards. ;)

Maybe I was the only one who noticed this...early in the race, Fox had a "Virtual Crew Chief" poll asking if NASCAR should eliminate the restrictor plates. You know how many respondents said that they should? 79% of them. So, at least in one respect, we may not be part of the minority after all.

I don't think your picking on jr. I agree with what DW said that it would be an unpopular ruling. If Nascar ever penalized jr, there would be a riot outside the track. I don't disagree with the call though. I think the whole yellow line rule is BS.

There are a lot of their rules that are BS. They create those rules so that the racing is taken out of the driver's hands and put into theirs. That way they have more control over what happens during the race.

Man Its like we have started war here in the forum!
OK folk, I've been here reading all these threads about today's race. I'd like to make a few comments. I was going to keep quiet, but I can't so......

These discussions are just like plate racing, everyone bunched up together, pedal to the floor, three wide, and waiting for the big one to happen. I see a lot of sarcasm, some hostility and not many people willing to change their mind. All that is OK, BUT..... before we have the big one, may I suggest everyone pull back from the keyboards, take a deep breath, and relax.

Let's keep everything in perspective before someone gets hurt. OK, off the soap box, everyone pull those belts tight and lets go.
