Park Rumors Denied: Rumors about Steve Park's job security in DEI's #1 Pennzoil Chevy were circulating even before the Cup race at Texas. But Ty Norris, vice president of motorsports at DEI isn't ready for talk of change, saying the team needs to do better and that DEI is going to keep trying to do better. Norris said Park has been real dedicated, coming by the shop and talking to the crew. The communication is open and positive. Norris had no comment when it was mentioned that Shane Hmiel's [#48 in the Busch Series] name has been tossed around as a possible replacement for Park.(paraphrased from the Winston Cup Scene - subscription required to read online)(4-4-2003)


At least Hmiel will be able to continue the tradition of the 1 car if Park does get booted (Probably will).

He (Shane) can't even finish a freakin busch race....
 
Wow man, people complain about Park. Wait 'til they get a load of this kid. I understand Hmiel's father did a lot for Dale, but I don't think that warrants a ride in an 800 HP Winston Cup car.
 
geez I hope not....he has made WAY to many bad decisions drivin that busch car.....and i'm still a believer the #1 team will get things goin once they all get use to each other.. :)

HE shane takes that car i will be upset. HE does not deserve a cup ride let alone the Busch car. I hate to see teams close but if it meant that Shane won't be in the seris then go for it. Shane is just a little bit to ****y, and makes horrible desicions.
 
There is no way Shane is ready for Cup. He needs alot more experience in Busch before he even thinks of moving up.
