Shane Hmiel Update

hopefully he'll grow out of this.....he made a huge freakin mistake and deserves to be punished for it...but i hope he changes his ways even if he doesnt get back in a race car.
 
this guy is crazy! getting into trouble like that, been a almost nobody if not a complete nobody now nascar's officials got it easy because he as a competitor is not that great so people are like whatever..not a big loss
 
^ Ya think about what would have happened if it was somebody with alot of fans like, Dale Jr, or Jeff Gordon, or anybody else really in Nextel Cup.
 
yeah a great dabate would come out of it, and of course nascar would reconsider things before going to extreme measures.

Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon aren't the type that would make the same choices that got Shane where he is today.
Some people say Shane made "mistakes", I say he made "choices".
 
^ I know they wouldnt have ever done what Shane, my point is if a big star, like Jeff Gordon or Junior, got banned from NASCAR for a number of years fans would riot.
 
No they wouldn't! The fans (and I am one) would feel the same way for them as they do for him!
He made a life changing dexesion.. and he made it twice. Shame, shame.
If it was Jeffy....Shame, shame!

I'd have to agree too. Clearly neither would do it, but if it were to happen it'd be a huge fiasco. Who's of the opinion NASCAR may even go so far as to cover it up? A sponsor like Bud or DuPont, maybe even Home Depot or Lowe's contribute HUGE amounts of money to the sport. If Jimmie or Tony, or Junior tested positive- would NASCAR cover it up to protect their cash flow?

We all have to agree that NASCAR is about one thing- money.

I doubt you really have to worry about any of the "stars" being tested unless they make it very, very obvious that they are on something and their team can't keep them out of the public eye.

The four-page document gives the sanctioning body permission to randomly drug test anyone involved in the series. NASCAR tested fewer than a dozen competitors in its top three series last season, said Kevin Triplett, managing director of business operations.

This is the type of negative publicity you would find in the NBA, MLB or NFL. In my opinion, NASCAR drivers are a different breed than your average ball player or other athlete. The major difference with race car drivers is that if their reaction time or their ability to focus on the racetrack were compromised, not only could it prove to be fatal for them, but for 42 other guys as well. I think NASCAR's 0 tolerance policy is entirely necessary.
 
I don't think anyone disagrees, Bobby. I just thought it was an interesting point that Smoke brought up.
